It makes me sad that the people in your life are not supportive. But echoing what others have said, this is entirely your choice and something that you should do for you and not for anyone else. If you think surgery is the best thing for you health, then do what you can to get there. I'm sure you'll get plenty of support from people on this site.

However, some people are never going to get it and you have my permission to ignore them.

It is sad but I've come to the realization that it is their problem and I cannot control them. It is just hard realizing that I will have to either limit or end some relationships that I have had for so long. The sad part is that this is the reason for it. Not because I did something wrong but because of a lifestyle change.
