Breakfast

So, breakfast used to be my favorite meal of the day and now I find it difficult to eat in the mornings. It's as if my pouch doesn't want anything. If I eat something solid, I'm uncomfortable for a couple of hours. So I've started just eating yogurt in the morning.

Has anyone else had this experience? Is this normal?

Also, I was reading another thread earlier about eggs and you all made me sad with your tales of not being able to eat eggs anymore. I used to love eggs and now they don't agree with me. I really hope that passes because I'm the guy who used to make scrambled egg sandwiches for dinner.

Before RnY I did not like breakfast. Post op - for years I used to try to force breakfast on me. Even protein shakes were iffy.

I am over ,9 years post op. Last few years I stop eating breakfast unless I am really hungry and even then try to eat something light. Nothing dense.

I tend to be more hungry later during the the day, so I adjusted when and what I eat. I often get up at 6 am, but don't start eating until 11 or noon. But I often need late night snack to help my body maintain blood sugar level during the night. Not eating too early allows me to eat when I really want to, and to "save calories" for late night snack without gaining weight.

I've always eaten eggs, I started with poached. I always cook things on the soft side, rubbery is not your friend.

If I eat eggs out especially I ask for them cooked soft.

French rolled omelette is one of my favorite things. I use it as a vehicle for my lox and Cream cheese fix and put Trader Joe's everything but the bagel seasoning on top. So good.

Post op, I have become meh about breakfast, but I think it's more the habit I got into having a protein shake in the morning, than the surgery itself.

I brunch on weekends often, and I love eggs. There is the odd time though that I can tell my body doesn't want them, and I can't fini**** But that's usually only if they are fried hard, and maybe too greasy. However, it's also often because I'm a steak and egg girl, or egg on a crispy carnita meat, and I might just have eaten enough hahah

but boiled, devilled, scrambled, omeletted, poached, I eat it all. Just not early mornings.

It's not a bad thing to wait a few hours in the morning before eating. Extend the fast. Those are good calorie burning hours. Get up and do some activities. Walk. Exercise. House chores.

My pouch didn't like food first thing in the morning for a year or year and a half after surgery. I had a Chike high protein iced coffee shake every single day for breakfast. I could tolerate eggs from the start, but I always soft scrambled them low and slow with milk and cheese in them. Now I can tolerate any egg possible, but I still wake up and drink coffee and wait to have breakfast until 10 or so, even on work days. That way, lunch is 2 or 3 and dinner is 8. If I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner too early...I get into the nighttime snacking and that certainly isn't bueno for weight loss! I'm sure you will again tolerate and love eggs, and the best thing is, you can eat them for dinner if your pouch is picky in the morning. I eat non-breakfast foods for breakfast all the time and vice versa :)

A favorite around the RNY board is something we call Emepie's egg salad. Hard boiled egg mashed up with cottage cheese (no mayo) with Everything but the Bagel spice on top. And some people add crumbled bacon. It's amazing. You're only two months out, but you'll get there!

Morning/breakfast are still tough for me 7 years post op. Warm liquids always go down better still.

So I always start my day with a protein coffee or tea.

Eggs were a little tough post op, but not anymore.

Love eggs and love to have breakfast several hours after waking on the weekends, or I make breakfast for dinner.

My nut said to eat within 2 hours of getting up. I too sometimes eat just a yogurt as my tummy does not seem to function well withing hours of waking. I Thought that it was just me. I have tried Jimmy dean fritatas they are pretty dense and soft. Kinda expensive. Eggface makes egg bites that are really easy to make and taste great mid morning. Good luck
