Morning all,

Wonderful photos! I love seasonal decorating. great pics of kids and horseback riding, too!

Happy Friday the 13th! Someone I dearly loved was born on Friday the 13th, during an eclipse even! He was one of the most original and amazing people I've ever known. Here's to you, Mike!

QOTD: I haven't had a cold in a long time, haven't had the flu in decades. My son always brought bad colds home from school, and I guess I did too as a kid, but I've been relatively free of them since being an adult, knock on wood! My doc wants me to get a flu shot next week. I've never had one, but might get one. I'm on the fence about it. But I will for sure get that vaccination against shingles, a true misery of an affliction. My mother-in-law was the folk healer for shingles on the island she lived on in the North Sea. I also need to get a mammogram sooner rather than later, before my insurance has been thoroughly gutted and destroyed.

First: Cappucino protein drink

B: 2 oz. Bbq pulled chicken

L: 1.6 oz. turkey, 0.4 oz. cheddar

D: 1.6 oz. ham, 0.4 oz. cheddar

S: Greek yogurt with a little strawberry protein powder stirred in

Have fun today, everyone!

I had shingles last summer - fortunately, they caught it early and I got the anti-viral meds, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Shingles is no fun!!

I hear you about health insurance. What is going on scares me to death. In fact, I have been *really* stressed out about it last night and this morning. We have insurance through work (I currently carry the policy, but we're switching it over to my husband for 2018 so I'm free to retire whenever I'm ready), but what they're doing to the ACA will affect us as well - to what extent, I don't know. But I'm scared. I wish they would lower the Medicare age so I won't have to worry about it anymore, but God knows what they plan for that... Very scary times ahead. I hope the courts stop some of these changes.

I'm glad that your shingles was caught early enough to be at least somewhat relieved! A very close, dear friend of mine had it a couple of years ago. She wasn't working and had no insurance, so had to suffer through the entire protracted outbreak, poor thing!

I am very concerned about what is being done to destroy the ACA, as well. In one year I will be eligible for Medicare, which is safer ground - for now! But I still have to get through this next 12 months. And though I'm fortunate in that Medicare is looming for me, all of my younger friends and family members will be affected, as well as many, many millions I don't know. It's abundantly clear there has been a long, deep appetite for the demise of Medicare, as well, so who knows what will come? I agree with you that the age should be lowered. But this is the warped new world we live in, where eliminating the estate tax is being sold as benefiting hard toiling truck drivers and waitresses, and destabilizing and eliminating comprehensive health insurance multimillions rely upon is being sold as great coverage. Really, it boggles the mind.

I agree 100% with everything you said. No one with assets less than $5M will benefit from eliminating the estate tax - which is basically 99% of us. And the health care thing - yes, mind-boggling is a good word for it.

How awful, Teena! I didn't realize shingles could strike that going. Chicken pox yes, of course, but shingles i always thought of as something which only hit adults. Your poor kiddo!

My daughter had shingles when she was about 7 or 8 years old, too, and it was a horrible case of them!
