Pouch Reset
I have heard of it, and I have seen enough successful vets on here who have lost weight, regained, and lost again, to know that the pouch reset doesn't work. Immediately after surgery, your pouch has very little capacity - remember when half of a hot dog made you feel "stuffed"? As we get further out from surgery, our pouch is bigger. Drinking shakes won't fill you up and will make you feel unhappy and deprived.
One thing that you need to do is CUT THE CARBS. Commit to a week of dense protein only. Make your meals consist of things like chicken breast, steak, ground turkey, eggs, cottage cheese, light and fit greek yogurt. You can add in healthy fats like cheese or avocado, but skip the veggies and fruit for now. Make sure you take some Miralax or something, since meats can be rather "binding" ;) The first few days will suck, because you will have carb cravings. White knuckle it, get through it, do NOT eat crackers or popcorn or cookies or whatever your cryptonite is.
Weigh, measure and track your food. Buy a $10 food scale from amazon if you don't have one already. Try to stick to 4 or 5 ounces of meat per meal. Log it somewhere like MyFitnessPal.
DRINK WATER. I drink 100 oz a day. And never for 30 minutes after eating. So other than eating and the 30 minutes after the meal, I am drinking. You can add Crystal Light or some other sugar-free flavor if you don't like plain water.
You will be astounded at how you will drop pounds following these rules for just one week. And once you get past the cravings, you will have to stick to these rules. Prioritize the dense protein!
Good luck!

Yes, what DC Girl said!
I could eat an entire garbage bag full of popcorn. It defies all logic! Same goes for protein shakes. I can drink one, and then drink another. Those are commonly called "slider foods" around here because they slide right through and don't really fill our pouches.
But I defy anyone to overeat a steak or chicken! Put a piece of dense meat in front of me and I am struggling to eat 4 oz. And even if for some reason I could overeat that--it's high protein, low carb. Just what our bodies needs to lose weight.
Skip the week of shakes and instead try a week with no white four & no sugar. Get your protein up over 100g and drink water like it's your job! I am sure you will see some results.
Best of luck and keep us updated on your progress!
I always say popcorn defies the laws of physics.

^^^^ Exactly what they said!^^^
That first week is tough, because what got you back to where you are wasn't meat/cheese... I would wager, anyway.
And shakes won't fill you up, but meat will. Yummy yummy meat. Don't get caught up in the 'low fat' aspect of it either... go buy a nice big juicy ribeye, some pork ribs to grill, a whole chicken (skin and all!). Eat the YUMMY meats for the first week...
Measure, plan out your meals, and don't drink with your meal or for 30-45 minutes after your meal.
You can do this, and what they said will work!

The "pouch test" is just another fad diet that won't get you anywhere.
You're much better off going back to basics and going protein-heavy. How about the five-day meat test? I started the site as a joke, but it really is a good way to get back on track.

I put it up over a year ago, but totally forgot about it for a while. Glad to see it can get some use :)
