If 98% of the scientists analyzing the climate are right, this may be the new normal. Idiot politicians! I have friends in Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino, all on high alert. Friends in San Francisco report distinctly smoky air. Even in San Jose, friends report raspy throats from the particulates they are breathing. I hope the winds will die down so the firefighters (su*****redibly physically brave people!) can make headway.

Hi Teena and RNYers! Long weekend was great and I slept in to 10am yesterday, it was fabulous! Teena I hope you can get the varicose veins looked after, I have heard they can be painful and uncomfortable.

Accountability: What is that? I ate all the things this weekend. It felt like a job how much I ate this weekend. The scale and I are not friends today. Going to buckle down today and get rid of the carbs that I am now intensely craving again! Remind me why I do this to myself? Onward...

QOTD: I am at goal but no I have not felt in the last 4 years that "I got this." And evidence of my carb laden weekend this past weekend is proof of that. Every day is a battle to stay on plan, to weigh and measure my food, to log in MFP, to count my calories, protein, carbs and drink enough liquids. I personally have no idea if I will ever feel like "I got this." We are all so different and individual and what works for me may not work for you so I have to stay on top of all the "rules" otherwise I fear I will get complacent and start to gain.

3.11 years post op RNY - here is what I have planned & inputted in MFP for the day

B: decaf coffee + 2 vanilla Premier Protein (PP) used as creamer

L: mixed salad at work (greens, chick peas, hard boiled egg) + balsamic dressing

S: two cheese strings + 1.5oz cashews before the gym

D: 4.5oz of chicken strips + sweet thai chili sauce

S: skyr vanilla yogurt + SF raspberry jam + bran buds

TOTALS: 921 calories, 107 protein, 52 carbs

V: Patches are on (multi, iron, B12, Vit D & calcium) + 4000 extra Dry D3

E: step class (60 mins), muscle pump (60 mins)'

Have a great day!

I had a carb day yesterday. I was tired, bored, annoyed, you name it. No good excuse... But I'm back on the wagon today, hoping to stay on it (weighed this morning, logging, planning...).

Good morning all~ I had a very nice long weekend, very productive and relaxing, ah... I've been having so much anxiety lately, more than usual and need to find a new therapist... not an easy thing to find - a quality one anyway...wish me luck.

QOTD - I hope I never feel like 'I've got this'. Every diet I've ever been on I got to a certain point and thought that very thing - I've got this - but always ended up back where I started or worse. I made a serious commitment to this life when I forever changed my body, I owe it to myself change my thinking and be forever diligent and never complacent.

Accountability - great, although the scale isn't moving - 174. Looking forward to AMAW!

10 mo post op

l-gyro w/lettuce, tom, onion, tahini, greek yogurt

Have a wonderful day!!

Morning Menu Peeps!

Teena, I went in a few weeks ago to have my varicose veins checked out. They did a 45 minute long ultrasound of both legs! It as much more in depth than I expected. I was happy to hear that I don't have any blood clots (just recently had a friend with vein/swelling issues get diagnosed with them and that prompted me to get to it and get them checked out). I have to wait 12 weeks (and wear compression socks) before my insurance will cover having them ablated. Hoping to get that done in November...

QOTD: "I've got this", I guess could mean different things to different people. I don't think of it as meaning that I don't think I'll ever gain the weight back, but I do think of it as I've figured out what I need to do to stay on a good path. With that in mind, yes I think I've got this... but that doesn't mean I'm not scared of gaining, or that I'm not struggling. To me, 'I've got this' means I know what I need to do... I've learned so much here, and know what needs to happen for the long haul... it doesn't mean I do it day in and day out, or that I'm perfect in any way though. I think all of us here 'have this' better than so many patients that don't have a good support group that's as full of informed people as there are here. We are lucky that we all found this place, and those of us that understand that weighing, keeping carbs down as much as we can, and keeping up with the macros is the utmost of importance in trying to be successful for now on. One day I am at peace with myself, and that might last for even a few weeks on end... then something gets in the way (hello Cheetos/cookies/crackers), and BAM, the panic sets back in!

Accountability: Yesterday was good. I did finish off my pint of Halo Top, but it was less than 1/4 full, so that's good. But it was unplanned - but not out of control, which right now, I definitely see a difference.

Weight this morning 138.2/ maintenance diet/ almost 17 months out

B: 3.7 ounces of fajita steak meat

S: cheese stick

L: 3.7 ounces of fajita steak meat

S: salami/cheese stick if I need it

D: Going out to Texas Roadhouse with hubby tonight for an impromptu dinner date! Steak, Steak, Baby!

The countdown to my girl's weekend begins! Heading out to Frisco, TX Thursday Night, then on to Broken Bow, OK Friday morning... then a fast drive back to Yukon, OK for my kids State band competition! Ready for all the fun to come!

Yeah I have to wear compression stockings too. I have an appt to have the ultrasound and see the vascular surgeon on Oct 19th. I was really surprised how quickly they arranged it.

I love your answer! Thank you.
