My daughter's birthday is the day after my surgery is scheduled and mine is 9 days later... I was hoping to have my surgery months ago but it didn't workout that way. I was a little worried about not being able to celebrate the way I would like to but just as you said, it's the best gift you could give yourself!

Mine was in October not close to the holidazes but close enough. I did not cook but my dd made thanksgiving dinner its just 4 of us. I just ate what was on my list but it was super hard. The goal of achieving my weigh loss goals made me strong it was like a horse running for the carrot

I just had surgery 6 weeks ago. I am giving up control of the holidays this year because the "old" me would want to cook everything the way I like it and it would be that much harder to resist. With someone else cooking things, they won't be as triggering. Also, it's good for me to give up a little control where food prep is involved.. best of luck!

Today is Thanksgiving in Canada, and I'm having surgery in two days, so I'm on Day 20 of my liquid diet.

It has been difficult; commercials, TV shows, store displays, everyone talking about their recipes. Pumpkin pie is my drug and I can't have even a bite!

It's also my son's birthday and we had two parties this weekend with cake.

I'm managing...a little sulky at times but surviving. I made myself some sugar-free Jell-o to eat at cake time, and I'm sticking to my shakes.

We are postponing our turkey dinner until the 21st. I have some homemade turkey broth to sip then.

I didn't have surgery before the holidays, but had it in the summer...The first 6 weeks after my surgery I had 3 weddings, my brothers 60th birthday, and a BBQ for 100 people in my backyard.

I didn't eat at all at the first wedding. I brought protein drinks with me, drank water in a wine glass with a splash of cranberry to make it red and some lime in it.

There is never a good time to have surgery. There will always be something. It is easiest to comply in the beginning. It is not this Holiday that will be the hardest...it is the one next year and the year after when you really can eat if you want.

There are food coma holiday throughout the year. Superbowl is actually the highest calorie day.

I found that no one really notices what I eat.
