Post op diet
Yep I sure am. We routinely hear of surgeons who tell their patients it's OK to eat potatoes, bread, fruit etc in the weeks following rny. Or low-fat sugar-added foods. Or juices. Or oatmeal and cream of wheat and grits.
If it's wrong, and if it flies in the face of science, then yes, ignore that part of the surgeon's plan.
The good news is, she can always ignore me too... as can you... if you wish to.

Sorry, I'm not seeing all of these alleged extra carbs/sugars. Got any examples?

As in many parts of life, I suspect the true secret is to read the label and choose your brands accordingly... with the knowledge that some manufacturers add carbs/sugar, and some don't.

Nope! No need here to ignore you. Just trying to clarify because the OP is so early out. =)
edited to add: I agree in principle with your advice, I was wobbling on the fact that she is so early out. You are right of course about the stuff some surgeons and nuts advise us to eat post op. But while I don't think eating the things you've listed is ideal, I also don't believe that what someone eats at two weeks out is indicative of their success or failure. As you've noted, you've been successful and people should weigh your advice accordingly.

Stick with the progression. While my surgery's plan had me on my forever diet by week 4 except for raw vegetables... doesn't mean I could actually do it. Transition to dense protein was harder and took longer.
Deli meat is still iffy for me at 3 years out. That woul far from be one of my first choices.
