Hard getting three meals in

I'm in my third week and just started puréed foods. Since I made the switch I've not been able to eat three meals. I have breakfast and lunch but after that I'm too full to eat anything else. I have been forcing myself to have a bit of premier protein shake late in the evening but even that feels heavy. Is this normal? I didn't think I'd feel this full on purées.

You're still healing and things might still be a bit swollen. Don't force yourself to eat if you don't feel hungry--that's just a bad habit. You have plenty of reserves, so keep on with your vitamins and keep your fluids up. I never thought a tiny thing of Taco Bell pintos and cheese would fill me up, but it did. You'll feel better soon.

Meals? I'm not sure I've eaten a full meal in 7 months. At least by pre RNY standards. 3 weeks out a protein shake was a meal and it took me nearly an hour to fini**** off.

Don't force it.

My meals mostly consist of puréed soups with protein powder added. I'm just surprised at how full I get by mid day. My plan from the hospital has a sample dinner of puréed couple of tablespoons of meat with some mashed potato at this stage and I can't imagine eating that yet.

Avoid the mashed potatoes. You need to be eating protein first and foremost, and your body needs that more than it needs the carbs.

Many people don't allow carbs like potatoes into their diet until they've reached goal.

Yup, What Julie said!

And how many grams of protein are you getting in a day? The scoops for protein powder are pretty big (IMO). It always seems odd to me that people could add that decent size scoop to a small amount of soup without it become clumpy. I preferred the shakes early out.

Everybody's a bit different and hospital meal plans are notoriously kind of crappy. I know it kind of sucks eating the same thing all the time but you got this surgery done to stop yourself from eating.

The he next step for you is a soft boiled egg or maybe some tuna salad. Potatoes are an absolute waste of precious space in your little pouch.
