Six years out and anemic again... keep up those vitamins people!
I had two iron infusions while peri menopausal. I'm now well past (thank goodness) and find that the oral heme iron (Proferrin) is keeping my levels steady.
As you can see, we all have different experiences, so it's really important to keep on top of your labs and your supplements to remain healthy.

I agree with Kim, even with my Lap Band, I am 11 years out I take a supplement. I had to try a bunch of different ones and finally found one Ferralat 90. It works wonderfully for me, it is a prescription and one of those "special" ones that are more expensive but well worth it.
Good luck!

Thank you to everyone who suggested iron patches. I did not know that was even a thing. My dr has never suggested that even though my iron levels keep dropping. We just did my blood work on Friday so I. Waiting for the latest results. She had wanted me to take two iron supplements daily and that did not go over well with my stomach. So I've been alternating my regular 65mg supplement and the 40?mg slow fe supplement. I asked about the infusions but she only wants to do one as a last resort. The dr said it's bc people tend to have bad reactions to the infusion. I'm guessing she meant stomach issues. I need to clarify that. Have any of you ever had a bad reaction to an infusion?
