Search "allergy medication" on this site. This has bound to have been asked before.

My doctor says I can take Claritin every day if I need it.

I agree with the person above. Look up the word "allergy pills" or "allergy medication". I'm sure someone has asked this before. I would recommend using the allergy pills that dissolve in your mouth. Probably easier on the tummy. Just ask the doctor first and look through the forums

I've been taking them daily throughout this whole thing, but the surgeon knew about it because it was part of my regular med routine.

I've taken so many allergy pills as a post-op. Haven't ever had a problem with any of them, but it's been a long time since I've been as early out as you are. (I think you'll probably be just fine with them). If you have trouble swallowing/keeping down pills you might try something like Flonase which is a nasal spray. I think it's even available over the counter now.

Good luck, hope you find something that will help.

My regular medicine goes down easy. I only seem to have problems with the Prilosec, Actigall, and my anti- biotics then my surgeon prescribed. They are capsules. I was opening the first 2 and mixing with apple sauce, but the antibiotic is nasty tasting like that. My surgeon said it was okay to take them the regular way. I hope it gets easier. As of right now I have to take them on empty stomach.
