Protein shake selections
My nutritionist didn't seem to mind if I use chocolate protein shakes as a source of protein, but would like to see it limited to maybe 1 a day, getting the rest of my protein from food sources instead of powder. I agree and I only use protein shakes (mixed with water) because of the breakfast convenience. I like them, which after Optifast, I never thought I would be able to say ever again. Not vanilla though. That's just nasty.
Just curious how all of the different protein shakes you use compare, and how often you partake of them. I just stopped by Costco yesterday, and bought the "Kaizen" Whey Protein isolate. 35 g protein, 0g sugar (it's a stevia product), 1g fat and 150 calories. I thought that was halfway decent for numbers. It's sweeter than I'd like, but I can handle that for the benefits I think it has. I've tried Muscletech from Costco (might've been Sam's Club in the states, it was a while ago) and it was 25g protein, but otherwise much the same. I tried a tub of stuff from Popeye's, but it was just so expensive I didn't go back.
I have never been able to choke down the protein shakes. They just aren't for me. I did use the Cocotein drinks though (100 cal, 20g protein, 0 sugar). I found that since they aren't milk based they were way easier to drink and less overly sweet.

You can order Protein 2O protein water drink from Amazon Canada. Qualifies for Prime next day delivery and comes in Very Berry, lemonade and coconut flavours. It's clear and quite refreshing. I bring it to the gym over ice for both hydration and a protein boost. Only 60 calories, 1 gram carbs and 15 grams of protein for 500 ml. Never seen it in stores though.
Bulk barn has them! I didn't know they were on prime. I'll check that out!

I buy ready made "Premier Protein" shakes from Costco. Best protein/calorie ratio out there and they taste pretty good. I buy vanilla and use it in coffee/steel cut oatmeal.
Costco does put them on sale every few months. Yeah they are pricey compared to powder. 18 for $25 but outside of Costco they're usually 4 for $10.
I started with chocolate then tried the banana which isn't bad even in coffee but now I'm all vanilla. I did not like strawberry which I've never actually seen in Costco.
I use Premier Protein Shakes pre made. I get mine at Sam's Club, 12 pack for $16.66 and then another 4 pack at my local grocery for a little over $7.00. My Sam's now has all the flavors LOVE the Caramel. All the flavors are Caramel, Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberries and Cream, and Bananas and Cream. Currently I have 2 to 3 a day. 30 grams of Protein for 11 oz.
