My 3 week visit with Surgeon
I had a 3 week visit with my Surgeon yesterday. I don't think that's usual, but I have had issues. I have been experiencing pain on my left side where my largest incision is. Monday night it started draining clear liquid so I put a bandage on it and by the middle of the night it soaked through. Dr. opened incision more and drained it, which I will say was painful. He also put me on ant-biotics. I started having issues over the weekend with diarrhea (sorry if TMI ), it would not stop until I took pepto. The following day regular BM. I stopped my Mira Lax for a few days and Dr. told me to take it again. I also started having trouble with my pouch being painful after eating cottage cheese and Yogurt. I tried yogurt yesterday and vomited for the first time while having pain. I decided to have a protein shake and thought I was going to vomit again, but no. Sipped it very slow. Dr. and Dietitian decided to take me off yogurt and cottage cheese. I will also delay starting my soft foods diet for a few days. (TMI warning ) I had taken Mira Lax yesterday and found out today that I need to continue to make my digestive track happy. My BM was terrifyingly painful and huge. I swear I felt like I was going to tear. I do not want to go through that again. I took over a half hour to labor through that. I say Labor because when I was done passing it I felt the relief you have after giving birth. I also noticed my legs are starting to retain fluid. Dr. told me I could go back on Lasix if it happens. So tomorrow I will start taken one and my Potassium Chloride. I go back to surgeon next Tuesday unless all is well. If not next week 2 or 3 weeks from yesterday. Hopefully large incision heals well or he will have to open it up more and pack the wound and I will have to pack it everyday and then after it heals from that he would stitch it up. Praying it heals well.
Sorry about all the complications. Sounds painfull. Hope you feel better soon.

I think yogurt is good for "regularity" and a store bought Greek yogurt is jam packed with protein. You just may need to thin it out. Also liquified/puréed bean/veggie soups add fiber & some protein to your diet without a lot of calories.
Min 6+ months out and sometimes my pouch says "No!" to things it's accepted many times before.
Also make sure you're getting extra water in you. Hard poo can be a sign you're not getting enough water.
Wow, you're going through a lot; my heart goes out to you.
I couldn't progress to soft foods either and had to do an extra month of full liquids and purees (2 weeks each); in my case, the pain after eating was due to inflammation in my pouch. It was a drag but I think it made me lose faster than I would have otherwise.
I hope your incision will heal and that the antibiotics will do their job.
Take care.
