Good morning! My apppintment with the surgeon yesterday was uneventful, but I think that's because I had very few questions about the procedure and diet. He's the same surgeon that did DH's RNY (he remembered me) and has a very playful personality. He basically asked what surgery I wanted since he thinks both RNY and VSG would be equally good options. I said RNY since I feel like I have a better support group at home and familiarity. He checked to make sure I was on track with my 6 month evaluation, then warned me about comparing my weight loss to my mom and husband (since apparently my husband is some kind of local prodigy of bariatric weight loss and pain management). Then he said he'd meet with me again before surgery, then the OR!

qotd: it was hot and muggy over the weekend but cooled down Sunday night, and rained all day yesterday and got down in the 60s. I think we're having more fall-like weather this week, staying in the 70s, and I see that we could be dropping into the 40s overnight. I love it.

Breakfast was 2 scrambled eggs with crumbled bacon, cheese, and a spoonful of salsa. I was also having a fierce craving for buttered toast, which I gave in to. I don't buy bread at home, so I got some from the scooters near my work, which is attached to a little cafe called Summer Kitchen. Along with a decaf skinny latte.

lunch: spinach salad with shrimp and homemade honey lemon vinagarette dressing

snack: Greek L&F

dinner: cleaning out the fridge night--were eating whatever leftovers we scrounge up from the fridge. I'll likely eat the last of the zuppa Toscana.

Thank you! It's definitely easier to get into good habits pre-op since my husband had his RNY in May, and we don't have kids (yet) so it's easy to just not have the junk in the house! I don't think I'd be doing this well if not for that.

I wont get a surgery date until insurance approves, and the bariatric center will submit all of my documentation to them once the 6 month evaluation is complete, which should be around Christmas. So I'm estimating a January/February surgery :)

Good morning, OH crew!

today I'm finally getting my greys covered, hallelujah! They're so much more noticeable when my hair is colored darker haha.

accountability: was good all day until DH wanted to go to get froyo after the gym. I got no sugar added yogurt but before I knew it there were cheesecake and brownie bites on top. It was still significantly less than what I would have done pre op but I wish I had just spoke up and suggested we do something else. It's always such a struggle for me because I don't want my new lifestyle to dictate what other people do. I'm going to work on it more though! Busted my hump big time at the gym last night so hopefully that offsets the froyo catastrophe (put my Fitbit on right before my workout and it said I burned 1,676 calories when I was done!)

QOTD: rainy, overcast and on and off drizzles. I'm so sick of this weather. We've had a crummy summer and now we've moved into a crummy fall that is going to lead into an even crummier winter... Can you tell that I'm super bitter about it?! Haha. Going to the gym is at least helping with my mood :)

I keep highlights in my hair to make the grey less noticeable! My hairdresser calls my grey hairs sparkly additions. That's why I like her so much!

The challenges our family and friends put us through! I've been meeting friends at a Mexican restaurant for Taco Tuesdays the last month or two. It's been impossible for me to go and NOT eat some chips and salsa, and I've often had a margarita too (at least they're just 4oz!). This week I convinced everyone to skip the $2 taco deal and go to a healthier Mediterranean restaurant. Now I realize that I'm just going to be replacing chips and salsa with hummus and pita bread :(

Posting before I read/catch up in an attempt to get this posted before noon!

Accountability: Yesterday I skipped my afternoon snack, otherwise I was dead on, including exercise!

QOTD: We've been under a heat blanket, unseasonably warm, for the past several days. It's been so warm that the public schools are closing early since they aren't air conditioned and some of the classrooms have hovered around 115F in the afternoons.

5 mo post RNY/153lbs/Weight-loss phase

L- Left over mixed greens with grilled salmon (the option I selected on MFP shows 11g of carbs which I think is high but who knows!)

AS- string cheese

D1- Venison meatloaf with Mom and Dad and sister's family at 5pm

D2- Lentil soup with friends at 7pm

ES- Hummus and pita (because I know I'm going to eat it so I'd might as well plan for it!)

Exercise:

Last night I went to the rec center for my first "run club" meeting - it was great! I'm super excited about learning proper care of my "running" body with lots of focus on warm-up, cool-down, and post run stretching! After the class I did my lift circuit.

Today I actually did it! I made it to the pool before breakfast!!! I managed to get in a good 45 minutes of very slow laps and I plan to repeat this on Thursday! My sister-in-law (I'm living with my sister and her family during the work week) is swimming in the mornings so we're helping each other get up and get moving! I also biked to work despite the heat, if it's too hot this afternoon to bike home I can always ride the bus as all the buses in Columbus (OH) have bike racks. Yep, zero excuse to skip the day!

Tomorrow I'm planning on running with the dog before work and lifting after.

My calories are high today, but I'm OK with this. I know getting the weight off is a race against time, but I am planning on taking the full year to get there and at this rate I should be able to make it by then. I'm almost six months out and I have 40 more lbs to go. I'm going to reassess my goal in 20 lbs (around 135) to see if my body fat % is still as high as I expect it to be.

Oh, and I pick Neville up Saturday!!!
