Tell me why you love your fitbit/step counter.
I have the Fitbit Aria... I do like counting my steps, don't get me wrong... but it's not the highlight of why I love it.
Mine reminds me to get up and walk, and plays these little challenge games with me (it'll say "Time to move!"... "Only 128 more steps to go!", yada yada yada - you can often hear me arguing with my Aria at my desk )
But the #1 reason I love it??
It is synced with my phone, and when I get a text, it reads the first line to me and tells me who's texting... and with a phone call it buzzes and tells me who's calling... I can keep the volume off on my phone, and if I'm in the middle of a meeting, or somewhere I can't see my phone, I can just glance down and make sure everything is OK with my kids/husband/clients.
There. I said it. It's not the steps for me... it's the convenience of seeing my phone calls/texts and not having to pick up my phone!

I have had a FitBit One (the clip-on type) for the past 2 or 3 years (two different ones, after one crapped out). I just got a FitBit Alta HR (same one as Daisy in her pic above) and I love love love it. I love that it tells me the time/day of week/date with a tap, tells me my steps, tells me my heart rate, tells me my exercise. Like others have posted, you can also set it to buzz when you get a text or phone call. I check my sleep pattern every morning on the app and it tells me how long I slept and how much I was awake. I am a total fan! I also got like ten colored bands from amazon (like Hala) and switch them out periodically. I think the ten bands were like $10! It was crazy cheap.
My only complaint is that I ordered a small and I should have gotten a large, since it's a big snug. I had an arm lift but that did nothing for my meaty lower arms. My fingers got skinny but apparently my wrists did not!
I have the fitbit flex 2, which I bought because it is supposed to track walking, bike riding, and swimming, my 3 favorite activities.
I don't like it. Then again, I hate wearing watches. It tracks walking just fine but does a terrible job with swimming and bike riding. I just get annoyed every time I have to manually put in what I did because it didn't pick up on it.
I recently lost the band while charging the main part and have felt so free without it. I use the map my ride app for bike riding and the map my walk app for walking and like them better. That's just me, as lots of people love their fitbits.

I've had a fitbit alta for about a year now and I never take it off except to charge, even in the shower or pool and I love it. However, it really annoys me that when I am walking the dogs and holding the leashes with that hand or if I am carrying anything with that hand it won't track. It also won't track all my steps on the treadmill, but will track well on the elliptical. I like that I can see my calls. texts and the clock feature.
That said - in the next week or so, I am ditching it for the the new apple watch 3 series that just came out and I cannot wait!

Here's what Fitbit says about the Alta
All Fitbit trackers are water-resistant, which means they are rain-proof and splash-proof and can stand up to even the sweatiest workout. Do not swim or shower with your tracker unless noted below: The Fitbit Flex 2 is swim and shower proof. The Fitbit Alta is shower proof only.

I don't have one, but I bought one for my wife's birthday tomorrow. Pretty sure she's not reading this....lol
The one that I have been contemplating is a "Polar" model at Best Buy. I forget the model but it's about $225, the others are way north of that. I'm intrigued. I REALLY REALLY want to see how a 3 hour show with my band tracks on it. LOL
I wore my sister's fitbit Alta HR while drumming at church, which is only a half dozen songs and relatively calm style of drumming, and it logged 7000 steps. LOL
