What's on your Monday Menu RNYers?

Hi Carl Ray,
I too suffered for years with debilitating night cramps in my calves and, sometimes, feet. Excruciatingly painful! These first developed while on a liquid diet, and were a nightly occurrence despite stretching every night before bed and up to 5 potassium horse pills per day. Every night I'd wake up in pain, forcing my rock-hard muscles to stretch and hobbling around for 15-20 minutes before it was safe to return to bed. Following that diet, the cramps gradually subsided, but returned again with renewed vigor whenever I attempted to diet again over the past several years. I tried multiple supplement cures, exercise, etc. to help with them, even sleeping with a bar of soap by my legs, under the sheets (I never had much faith in that folk cure, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try. It didn't hurt, but it also didn'twork.). Eating bananas did help, but required several per day to have an effect, a dietary approach that I knew wouldn't work post-op.
In fact, while preparing for my RnY, I spoke with my surgical center staff about this, as well as with folks here in posts. I was worried that I would be in pain every night again. However, hallelujah, incredibly this far, I have not had a single episode! That would have been unheard of previously, had I reduced my calories as much as I now do. It's very strange and very curious, and makes me wonder what mechanism is involved which has a connection to our guts. I am definitely not complaining, and hope it continues!
I'm sorry to hear that you were plagued by such severe leg cramps, and sincerely hope that you won't experience that again.
That sounds awful, I'm glad they subsided. I did eat a half a banana on the way to my band gig Saturday, thinking the potassium would be needed. Also drank a Gatorade g2 during the show. It was 44 degrees and it was awful during the day so I figured the electrolytes would help me out. Not a fan of bananas or Gatorade anything but it seemed to work.
Remember, no matter where you go.......there you are.
So when I used to get my 'fresh' meat sticks, I'd do the same thing... leave the bag open for a couple of days
You are really making miss my meat sticks... The Chomp sticks from TJ's aren't the same... sigh.

Good morning :)
Tired but had a great time at the wedding on Saturday. My sister is happily married so that's the important part, right? Today I'm back to work. DH says we are not allowed to schedule anything else until we start going stir-crazy in the dead of winter ;)
QOTD: I listen to a somewhat current radio station, but after hanging out with my 26 year old sister and her friends I realized I'm not totally up-to-date with the latest music. I love listening to 80's, 90's, 00's music which is why I stick with that radio station -- it plays a good mix of oldish and new. My favourite newish song is probably something like Despacito... I just went through a list of music trying to find some songs and I didn't know most of them.
Post-op two years, six months
Breakfast - Greek yogurt
Snack - egg, almonds
Lunch - bunless burger, pickles
Snack - turkey bites
Snack - bacon jerky, cheese stick
Dinner - probably another burger
Snack - protein shake if needed
All water and vits -- I still feel dry from being outside all day on Saturday. We are having a heat wave here so it was pretty warm for the outdoor wedding.
Good morning menu friends-
Quick post before I head to bed, I'm working nights the next couple days. It's going to be a busy week for me, it's my 60 hour work week and I have three appointments this week as well. Blood work for blood thinner levels Tuesday morning. Wednesday morning is yearly eye exam, and Thursday MRI on my head and neck. Then I work days from Friday to Sunday.
My best friend and I got all of her ripe tomatoes canned into salsa yesterday. We got 43 pints of salsa made - the picture is missing the two jars a piece that my niece and friend took when they left. My friend will come back for the bulk of the jars later this week. She always has a bumper crop of tomatoes. In fact my Dad and aunt have already canned 54 quarts of tomatoes from her garden (35 quarts of salsa and 19 quarts of tomatoes).
The scale finally moved over the weekend and I am finally in the 180's. I will weigh when I get up for work later this afternoon. Hopefully it will have come down a little more.
