Morning!

how was everyone's Saturday? I'm heading up to the farm shortly. Hoping to spend the day in the garden.

qotd: have you ever won anything? When I was a tween, I won 100$ on a scratch ticket. My dad tried to trick me and say that because I was under age, the clerk would only give him 100$ worth of scratch tickets and not cash hahahhahaa my heart dropped for a second. I held onto that 100 bill for quite some time.

I also won a job once. Weird, I know. It was at a dinner to mix and mingle between job seeking students. And employers. Before the meal, students went around and applied for jobs they were qualified for. Then, they drew an employer, and then a student that applied. I work for our community newspaper for the summer. Which was an amazing experience.

menu:

B: premier and coffee

L/D: no idea, but protein forward

Good morning weekenders! It is forecasted to be a hot one today, but I am planning to go on a long hike with a friend in a local park. Yesterday I got in a long walk - 8.3 miles - on a new trail that I hadn't done before. It wasn't as relaxing as some of the trails that I do. Not much wildlife and several road crossings, but still a nice walk. I'm trying to find some new paths to mix up the experience and keep it fresh.

Edited for QOTD: I'm not one to play the lottery although I consider it sometimes, so I can't say that I win. I haven't won anything else for a long time.

Accountability: I've been doing good, but boy am I being tempted by carbs lately. We went to the orchard yesterday for apples for my wife and I bought and ate a fresh Golden Delicious apple. It was amazing! I've only been doing fruit rarely, but the apple was totally worth the calories.

Menu:

Breakfast: hard boiled egg, 2 oz ham

Snack: Grape protein shake

Lunch: TJ's chicken sausage, baby carrots

Snack: 2 oz turkey breast

Dinner: ?rainbow trout, green beans

Exercise: long hike, ? swimming

Good morning! Enjoy the gardening (if you like to do it). I love gardens, but not doing the work... We are heading to the beach for what is probably the last one on Cape Cod this year. After 5 days of drizzle and gloom we are looking forward to it!

QOTD: Nothing... Of course we don't buy lottery tickets or much of anything where you could win. But when we buy chances for a charity, we never win anything. DD frequently does though. She won a trip at a festival when she was 6 months old (our friend bought a raffle ticket in her name). We took the money equivalent and put it into an account for her. She also wins large pots in Keno too though she doesn't play a lot. DH likes to say we won the biggest lottery: our youngest children (the 2 youngest were adopted). Of course we didn't "win" them, but we always felt so lucky that their birth parents chose us.

1.5 years post-op (maintenance). 34 work days to retirement (11/13).

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Emiepie's egg salad

D: taco salad probably

S: yogurt

I'm adopted and always get so excited to meet others who have been impacted by adoption. It's a crazy, beautiful, hard, joyful thing.

Yes, all of the above! Our children came to us when just a few days old, but we opened both adoptions when they were in their mid-teens. Both spent a lot of time getting to know their birth moms families. DD doesn't really sees hers now, but has unsuccessfully tried to contact her birthfather. DS (and we) have a great relationship with his birth mom and extended family (live nearby), but he doesn't want to approach his birthfather.

Good Morning Erin and Menu Family!

QOTD: When I was 14 my cousin and I entered a bunch of sweepstakes. We got a magazine that listed sweepstakes and how to enter them. Many said "Send in the box top or the name of the product printed on a 3 X 5 piece of paper", which we did. We won a color TV from Clairol! That was SO exciting!

Accountability: Yesterday: My calories are higher for yesterday than usual. Protein - 81, Calories - 1,262, Carbs - 117.

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks

L: taco meat, cheese, sour cream, 1/2 flour tortilla

D: taco meat, cheese, sour cream, 1/2 flour tortilla

S: light & fit Greek yogurt, prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, banana

E: Walking the dogs around the subdivision

Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!

~ Karen
