Quitting smoking before consultation
Hey guys and gals! So, I have the first consultation in October 11, 2017 and I have decided to quit smoking before I go that way there is no push back for anything and the process is not prolonged.
It is very hard but I need to set my mind frame for the outcome! I ha e decided to lean on all you guys and gals for support!
Please help or give any suggestions as to how o can accomplish this goal!
Thanks!
You know, chewing gum....TONS of gum helped me quit when I was pregnant with both my kids but I jumped back on it as soon as I stopped breast feeding....i wish I had not! So is have been chewing gum, bad part is I have braces too and I am super scared it's going to get stuck...lol...but I will continue to stay focused and that's for the suggestion! NOW....VAPE PEN?!?!? sounds interesting? I shall read up on that!!!
I never smoked, so I don't have suggestions. But stay away from any aids that have nicotine. Nicotine does horrible things to the healing process, and that's what you need out of your system by the time you have surgery.
Good luck. Quitting smoking and losing weight are the two biggest things you can do for your health.

I quit smoking c. 25 years ago. Not gonna lie - it was really tough. Lots of white knuckling. I also belonged to a newsgroup of other people who were trying to quit, which i found *extremely* helpful. Just like I do with OH, I'd be on it multiple times a day. I highly doubt that group exists anymore (who uses newsgroups in 2017?), but I'm sure there are lots of other online support groups out there now.
Good morning.
I quit smoking almost a year before my surgery ( 11 months). I used Chantix to help me quit ( my insurance paid for all of it). I smoked two weeks while on it and was able to put them down and not go back. It was hard...but I believe the Chantix helped tremendously.
I also started eating sunflower seeds (the ones I had to pry out of the shell). The hardest part for me was not smoking while driving. I ate alot of seeds in my car. To get off of the seeds I switched to gum.
Just thought I would let you know what worked for me.
I wish you the best of luck!!

I quit smoking after 26 years of a pack and a half a day habit. I did it cold turkey. I had tried, unsuccessfully, on a few occasions to taper down to quit, but never could. The first three days are really rough, but after that it is all in your head, the physical addiction is gone. I am a 20 year quitter.
