It is frustrating when OH gets hungry (for posts)! This morning is foggy on Cape Cod but it is supposed to burn off and be decent later today. We went to a great gift shop yesterday owned by some friends we used to live near in central MA who live down here now. Really great stuff and the prices were reasonable.

QOTD: What was your biggest fear going into surgery? I wasn't afraid of the surgery itself because I had several previous extensive abdominal surgeries and my research indicated that this should be much easier (it was). I was worried about not being able to maintain the weight, not knowing how my new "tool" would help. I still worry about that but not nearly as much as I used to. I've been maintaining at my current weight for 10 months, but thought I was in maintenance a year ago. This is the first time in my life that I didn't start regaining within a few months of thinking I was in maintenance. It does make a big difference in capacity, but I have learned that it must be partnered with other maintenance skills we've talked about under other QOTD's.

17.5 months post-op (maintenance). 37 work days to retirement

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: grilled sea bass (fillet from a fish caught yesterday morning by friends!)

S: yogurt

Good morning OH~ It's a lovely Sunday morning, ahhh and NFL all day! The Pat are playing the Saints today (my good friend is a die hard Saints fan and recently moved to NOLA. We have a little rivalry going and that makes even more fun!

QOTD - My biggest fear going into surgery was the recovery. I assumed it would be way worse than it was. That said, I was so ready and couldn't wait to have the surgery, pain and all. I am worried about maintenance too, but mostly because I have never made it to a goal to maintain and from what I see on here its the hardest part and its for life.

Accountability - ate on plan plus some pork rinds and a glass of wine

Post op 9 mo

b-coffee coffee coffee

l-eggs and sausage

Good morning weekenders! OH is a wonderful thing, but sometimes technology can have terrible hiccups!

QOTD: I was afraid of not losing weight. I have lost more than I expected and more quickly. I am within 10 pounds of my goal.

We decided at the last minute to take a quick trip to the Shenandoah National Park and to drive the Skyline Drive for 2 days. The weather was perfect with sun and moderate temperatures. We did alot of driving and picture taking at the overlooks. We also took a hike with a park ranger on Friday morning, which was great. Both Friday and Saturday we got up and watched the sun rise from the mountain and the colors were amazing. I got in some walking and hiking both days for exercise, which was alot of fun!

Accountability: considering the fact that I ate out every meal for 2 days, I did pretty well. Protein forward. I had omelets twice and salmon and river trout. I took some RTD protein shakes, cheese sticks and salmon jerky for snacks which helped to keep me in line.

Menu:

Breakfast: hard boiled egg, 2 oz ham

Snack: Cappuccino protein shake

Lunch: Turkey breast, cauliflower

Snack: 2 oz turkey breast

Dinner: pork chops, Brussels sprouts

Exercise: long walk

Working today - UGH! One thing I will NOT miss when I retire are evening and weekend shifts!!

QOTD: when I first started the process, i was afraid of dying on the operating table, but that fear quickly subsided after I started researching the surgery. After that, ??? I don't think I was afraid, really - just nervous a few days before up to the point they rolled me in to the OR.

Weight finally back to normal this morning. I'd been dealing with some water retention and backup - thank God it's gone!!!

B: homemade Greek yogurt with raspberries & blueberries

S: coffee with half & half, SF pumpkin vanilla latte shake

L: 1 C cottage cheese, maybe a peach

Morning!! Run is done and I tackled the supermarket early. Headed home to eat.

accountability: I was unreasonably hard in myself yesterday for not making My new calorie goal- and said f-it and ate one of my son's tastykakes and some Reese's pieces. Outside of the f-it moment my day would have been spectacular- even if I did go over in calories.

Qotd: I fear coming out of surgery sick. I was SMO- but 'healthy'- no sick a lot, not tired, decent energy, strong stomach. I feared becoming a frail, vomiting all the time weak person. Needless fear :-)

198.5 today. 2.4 years out

m1: egg, turkey sausage crumbles

m2: chicken breast cuts and melted cheese

m3: tuna, cheese

m4: roast pork loin

Good morning menu friends.

Quick post before I head to bed. Two nights down, one to go. I have a couple errands to run and an appointment to get my nails done when I get off tomorrow morning, so it's going to be an extremely long night / day for me.

QOTD: I guess I wasn't really worried about anything going into surgery since I had found this site and had been researching for months prior to surgery.

I had a couple friends that were concerned because someone that they knew casually (from work) had surgery a couple months before me and he passed away two or three days after his RNY surgery. He had his surgery at the same hospital that I did.

I don't know if he had the same Dr. that I did, or what kind of complications he had.

Accountability: I was cold and tired last night and I drank a small cappuccino mixed with a small coffee. So my calorie and carbs were higher than I would have liked.

Today's menu:

B - Iced coffee with 1/2 Scoop protein powder, SF creamer

B2 - egg salad (Emiepie's)

L - Smoked Salmon, mini cucumber

D - Tilapia, Yellow squash

S- Spinach salad, Walden farms dressing w/ Tbsp light buttermilk ranch, tuna pouch

S - Shrimp, ****tail sauce

Calories - 688, Protein- 107, Carbs - 26

Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Tammy

Good morning :)

My MIL is coming for a visit today so I will tidy the house and do some laundry. I bought a new pair of pants to wear for work and the first day I got something on them. The rest of the week I wore skirts. They are dangerous -- they are like the yoga pants of office wear. It would be much easier to gain weight and not notice. I picked up a pair of navy blue pants in Niagara yesterday along with a couple shirts and camis. Puppy 2 decided to eat a tank top that was sitting on my bed one day while I was at work.

QOTD: I was terrified because I'd never really had surgery before. I had my tonsils out when I was 7, and was hospitalized with pneumonia when I was 10, but no surgeries with visible wounds. I was scared about the wound care, anesthesia, and having buyer's remorse about rearranging my insides. Outside the actual surgical procedure I was (and still am) worried about regain, especially being younger and therefore having longer to maintain.

Post-op two years and six months.

Breakfast - protein shake

Snack - egg, cheese

Lunch - leftover beef ribs

Snack - turkey sausage

Dinner - chicken and veg

Snack - protein shake

All water and vits -- speaking of which, I have rearranged my vitamin schedule which means taking some with me to work, but I feel that is better than before bed because I have been forgetting my Vit D and magnesium.
