Pre surgery Jitters!
I am right here with you. My BMI is 61.5 and my surgery is scheduled for the 27th. I only have a one week post op liquid diet and I am a little anxious about that but I've warned everyone to expect monster mom that week. I've heard that the first couple days are the worst and if we can make it that far the rest is a breeze, REALLY hope thats true. I know I'll be just fine and so will you. My doctor warned me to faithfully follow the pre-op diet for an easier surgery with less complications. That's all I needed to hear and I can say with 100% certainty that I WILL be faithful. My ONLY fear now is the actual surgery. Bad luck seems to follow me, but we can and WILL do this. Soon we'll be on the loser bench together:) Good luck in your final endeavors, surgery day will be here before you know it.

Wow Casey I looked at your Ticker! I'm 361 lbs. 5'4". I truly believe that your words have power! Don't say "Bad Luck seems to follow you". Instead say " My luck is changing as my weight comes off ". Stay positive. I will be looking for your posts. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers! Thanks for the support!
Hi there! I'm in a similar boat -- just finished jumping through all of the insurance hoops and my surgery was scheduled this afternoon. I'll be going in for RNY on 10/17. I feel very positive about my decision to pursue the surgery, as I've yo-yoed my whole life and feel like a ticking time bomb of health issues. I also have a lot of back and joint pain, and honestly feel way older than I ought to. I'm looking at this tool as a way to get my life back and become the healthy, fit person my family needs me to be.
That said, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. I know it's not going to be a walk in the park. It will be tough mentally and physically, and giving up so many favorite foods/drinks forever is terribly daunting. But pretty much everyone I've talked to who is post-op says that it is so worth it and that they would do it again in a heartbeat. Anyway, I'm rooting for both of us! :)
That liquid diet, though... Oh man. My surgeon (the whole practice, really) is very strict, and I'll have to do THREE WEEKS of it prior to surgery since my BMI is over 40. If I can lose a couple more lbs before my pre-op appointment and get under 40, I'll only have to do two weeks. Fingers crossed, right?
Good luck to you!

I'm rooting for you! I know this surgery is only a tool and will only work if I'm willing to use it correctly. I also have a lot of favorite foods which I will miss, soda being the hardest to give up. I just love the fizz. But I will give it up and most of the others too. I want to be able to walk into a department store and buy clothes off the rack, not out of a catalog or on line. I want to horseback ride again, and just be able to move.
My BMI is over 60, I know I will love it when mine goes down to 40. My fingers are crossed and I'm keeping a stiff upper lip! Good luck and keep in touch!
I'm going to miss the fizz, too! I was totally addicted to LaCroix, and cutting it out over the past several months was hard. But it will all be worth it in the end. Shopping will actually be fun, and I can't wait to comfortably ride the roller coasters with my girls this summer. :)

Lina I have severe sleep apnea. My sleep study showed that I stopped breathing 70 times an hour. I was exhausted when I woke up in the mornings and would have to take afternoon naps. Since I've had my study and have a Bi Pap machine I sleep wonderfully. My surgeon told me I would have to bring my machine with me when I go for my surgery.
The study isn't too bad. They do hook you up with a bunch of electrode wires to monitor your brain waves and heart. My study took two nights. first night to study you and the second night to put you on a C pap or Bi pap machine to calibrate it to your specific needs.
All in all I encourage everyone who snores and wakes up exhausted to get a study done! I sleep great now and have more energy and no longer have to take naps. I've had my Bi pap for two years and can't fall asleep without it!
Hopefully with my surgery I won't need it anymore once I lose the weight, and my other medical conditions will leave ( high blood pressure and diabetes).
Don't sweat it you'll do fine!
