Morning all,

The only people I know who have had WLS are my next-door neighbor, who had a VSG last year, and a nurse at the lab where i have blood drawn every year to check my thyroid function (I have hypothyroidism). About two years ago, while drawing my blood, that nurse told me that she'd had a gastric bypass and lost a tremendous amount of weight. She said that both of her daughters had had RnYs, too. She said that the surgery had helped all of them, and that she was very happy she had had it done. I don't remember what lead to that conversation, but as she was the first person I'd met who had had WLS, her comments stuck with me. It wasn't until I realized my insurance would cover it, though, that I really got serious about actually having it myself. I'm really happy I did!

First: black tea with vanilla protein powder

B: 1.6 oz. Ham/0.4 oz. Cheddar

L: Greek yogurt w/ half-serving of vanilla PP stirred into it

D: Probably the same as breakfast

S: a mug of two of tea, with a little almond/cashew milk

I hope everyone's day is really good.

Is there a trick to getting the vanilla protein powder to blend in with your tea?

Other than letting the tea cool off for a few minutes before I add the powder, there's no trick. if you add it to boiling tea, it seizes up and becomes absolutely inedible. I use the Bariatric Fusion brand mostly. It can be a little lumpy at first, but stirring for a moment usually does the trick.

Yes. Mix the protein powder with room temp water until it is the consistency of cake batter and you don't have any powdery lumps. Then you can mix it with any hot beverage. I mix coffee or chai flavored protein powder with my coffee almost every morning.

HI! I am so happy! I am down 7 lbs and finally am back to my starting point of 158 lbs. I 142 lbs (goal weight) I am gunning for you!

QOTD-Yes. They have both regained, but they both admitted "food tastes too god-damn good" and they have gone back to fried carbs and cookies and desserts.

Breakfast-2 hard boiled eggs + 1/4 cup chickpeas

Lunch-2 ribs BBQ'ed and 1/4 cup baked beans

Snack-Pickles

D: 3oz pork tender + savory squash bake.

E: End of year here in the government. Trying to get it all done, so I can only afford a 30 minute walk over lunch. When I get home I will try to do some ab work. I will take the long way home while walking and get those 12K steps in.

Oh man that "foods better than my health" mentality really bothers me. I mean, I get it. I lived that way for years.

Besides, there are some really tasty and really truly healthy meals. You don't have to give up quality tasting meals to lose weight.

I agree.

Maybe because I was sick so much as a child with a lot of operations, that when I decided to have surgery I was really cognizant that I was chopping up my stomach, getting surgically rearranged, and being forced to take lots of vitamins forever.

If I am doing ALL of that, I can't get lazy and complacent and backslide

Good morning JB and Menu Family!

Thanks for getting us started Julia!

QOTD: My Psychiatric nurse practitioner is the one who suggested WLS to me and she told me she had had it done herself several years prior. She has done well. It wasn't until my liver doctor told me that if I didn't lose weight I'd be in total liver failure within 5 - 10 years, though, that I decided to do WLS for sure. (Now my liver enzymes are back to normal!)

Accoutability: Yesterday: Protein - 87, Calories - 1,038, Carbs - 75.

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks

L: hamburger patty with melted cheese

D: chicken stir fry

S: light & fit Greek yogurt, prosciutto & mozzarella sticks

E: Taking the dogs for a walk around the subdivision

Have a FANTASTIC day everyone!

Drive by posting for now, and I'll come back on my breaks to read the rest of the posts!

qotd: my mom had RNY when I was a teenager, and has regained some but otherwise doing well. She had actually started bordering on "too thin" before her doctor told her she needed to increase calories, so the regain isn't a terrible thing. My husband just had RNY in May, and is down 120ish and I have a cousin who should be about a year out.

yesterday I ate really well until we went to the movie. I had allowed for some popcorn. SOME. Ate the whole buttery bucket. It sat like a brick in my stomach all night and today I feel like I need to throw up or be rid of it however it wants to leave...normally I'd say no regrets about movie popcorn but...I definitely have regrets this time.

Today I feel queasy, so I might just protein shake for breakfast, and take a lunch and afternoon snack. So...lunch will be the rest of the ricotta bake, and I'll take a yogurt. The rest will be water, it's all I even feel like having anyway.

We'll see how I feel later on, but this has really turned me off. I don't even want to think about movie popcorn. I suspect it was the heavy butter (I didn't order extra, this theater just uses generous amounts of real clarified butter)
