Oh my god... the grocery store.
Surgery tomorrow. Had to go in to the grocery store to pick up some bathtub cleaner... I about died. I picked up my stuff and buzzed out of there ASAP. My mom is going to do the rest of the shopping.
It's totally a mental thing now. I've been doing liquid for about 5 days and been to the grocery store- no problem- but all of a sudden... it was like a punch in the gut. Augh!! :)
I brought myself to tears one day going to the grocery store during my liquids stage... after that, I sent my husband or daughter...
It's tough stuff! The brain is relentless, remember that, especially after surgery.

Yeah, the grocery store is hard at first. So is the mall food court, lol.
I looked and sounded like a crazy person the first time I went to the grocery store after surgery. I gave a display of chips the finger (without knowing I was going to do that), and every time I passed something I liked but could no longer have, I'd mumble things like "No, God no!" or, "Chocolate, not chocolate!" and try to avert my eyes, lol. It was like being in a minefield.
Good luck!

Forgot to add, good luck with your surgery tomorrow! See you on the loser's bench! (The edit tab almost never comes up for me so I'm just posting a second response).

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow.
Grocery stores don't bother me (I do only the peripheries) but what brings me to my knees is those 30 second videos about cooking or baking. I literally salivate and can't take my eyes off. I guess I feast with my eyes then kinda say to myself "thank God it's not IRL". I guess we all have a way to get through.

I do best if I don't let myself venture into the interior, and just stick to the walls - dairy, meat, produce (bolts past bakery), pharmacy stuff. phew!
Good luck with your surgery! Walk walk walk and sip sip sip! The first week "walk" might be better described as "shuffle shuffle shuffle" because you're be a little sore and woosie, but the more you "suffle" the better you'll heal!
