I hope you can figure out the nausea!

Poor Em! That sounds painful no matter which way the doc decided to go!

Thanks! I am hoping I can reduce the amount of iron I am taking.

Yeah, she was pretty scared and it's pretty swollen this morning but she will be good to go. Dr said that she will probably end up with a small scar but that it shouldn't be too bad.

Thanks, Chris. I was able to see some of my numbers from my recent blood work and the iron seems a tad better so maybe if I can reduce taking it from twice a day to once the nausea will get better.

Her lip is pretty swollen today but she'll be good as new soon.

Kelly so sorry to hear about Em & Ruppert that is just heart breaking for both of them. Exact same thing happened to my SIL with her Dog, she got in his space and he took a huge bite out of her upper lip and a bit of the side of her face. She needed a lot of stitches though. So hope they are both okay, that is traumatizing for all of you.

As for your Nausea, you must switch to heme Iron. I was taking "Proferrin" which is a heme iron, its pretty much the best one out there, I know several of our Vets on here use just Proferrin and won't use any other brand as its the best. Its not cheap, I always got mine from Walmart. In Canadian dollars is was pretty much a dollar a pill so 60 pills was $60 dollars but SO WORTH IT. No nausea, no constipation at all. I am sure in the US you can probably get it on Amazon. The problem I see right now is that your Ferritin is SO LOW you will need an Iron infusion to get it back up to "normal" levels and then you can start taking Proferrin to keep it up at the levels you need it. Once your Ferrtin gets so dangerously low no oral iron out there will bring it back up to where it needs to be. For example:

My Ferritin was a 4 last year. I needed 4 Iron Infusions to get it up over 100. I use the Iron patch now and my iron/ferritin is finally normal. Note you can't drink coffee or tea (decaf or regular) within a few hours of taking your iron pill. Just remember if you are going to do oral iron pill you can't have caffeine in the form of coffee or tea within a few hours of taking the iron pill. Best of luck my firend, you really need to stop that Iron pill you are on and get on Proferrin, take it at night and sleep it off and get an iron infusion STAT!

ETA: You and I both are exercise-a-holics and there IS SUCH A THING as exercise induced anemia/low iron. I highly recommend you Google exercise and anemia or exercise and low iron, lots of literature out there on this, read the studies, its very interesting and informative. This is very common in marathon runners. Trust me google it and you will see we both are low in iron/ferrtin and we both exercise a lot, coincidence, yup!

Thank you so much my dear! I appreciate the and support. I have my follow up with my surgeon today so I hope to get all this iron business on track. I did switch to the other iron Grim recommended (John went that evening and couldn't find the heme type and it has gotten a tad better but not great. I have some of my numbers back and my numbers went up a little and I am only "red"in the iron binding capacity (536 mcg/dl) and ferritin is at a 12 (up from 6 in July).

As for Em and Rup...I am not exactly sure if he actually bit her or if his tooth caught her lip or something as it doesn't look like a bite and I was sitting right there and he didn't make any type of agitated sounds or anything...does that make sense? Luckily, just the one stitch and she'll be good to go. She is pretty embarrassed to walk around school though.

Hope you're doing well. Any news on your GB?

Morning Menu Peeps :)

I had a great weekend... watched my kids in our little hometown parade, my daughter's last parade of her high school life! Also ended up at another small town (about 40 minutes north of me) festival that evening... I am officially festivaled out! Oh wait... the state fair starts this week... ok, maybe not! (There's a bacon wrapped turkey leg on my list of things to try out! Hahaha)

QOTD: Probably my most interesting job was also my hardest... after working in an office for many years, I got laid off and decided to go back to college in my mid-twenties, so I took at job at a place called Pappadeaux's (some of you in the South probably know the place). It's a very high volume busy Cajun seafood place... I thought it would be 'easy' money while I went to school. Boy, I remember coming home and soaking my feet and barely being about to walk after a shift! It was the hardest work I had ever done! I am now a good tipper, and think that everyone should have to work at a restaurant to understand exactly what your server goes through! The upside is that I still love that place, and whenever we make it to Texas, I try to talk hubby into eating there!

Accountability: Had a few things over the weekend that weren't in my best interest... but none of it was 'out of control' eating, and since I'm basically in maintenance, I feel OK with my choices.

Weight this morning 137.2 almost 16 months out from surgery

B: leftover smoked/grilled wings

L: Leftover chicken tenders that I made with almond flour and parmesan cheese coating

D: Probably more leftover wings at this point and grilled asparagus

S: I have cottage cheese with me, and extra wings, and of course my Fairlife latte - I've been doing this mostly iced lately

Where in Texas was the restaurant you worked in. My sister and my niece work at one in Texas now. Just curious if it is the same one.

I worked at the original one in Houston on Westheimer. They're all over the state now, and in some other states as well, but that was the first one they opened.
