Baby food/snacks after surgery?
Hey everyone, hope you all had a good weekend!
I was curious about eating baby food after surgery. You know, those organic squeeze packs? Or those easy digestible puffs and crackers they have. Obviously I would not be using these as full meals, more as a snack once every few days.
I haven't had surgery yet. My doctor says I will probably have it around January...but I was curious anyway! :P
What are your thoughts? I will ask my dietitian, but wanted to know the forums opinion too.

those puffs are simply baby junk food. You might as well eat adult cheese puffs.
The squeeze packs of veggies are questionable, you would have to check the sugar and carbs in them. The fruit is pure sugar so no on that.
My program did not recommend baby food, and there was no chance on earth that I was going to eat that stuff.
You can do just great without eating baby food.

I don't think baby food is a healthy snack option for bariatric patients. Unless it's plain stage 1 puréed broccoli. Yuck. IF you are going to snack, Low calorie Greek yogurt would be a better option. Or cottage cheese. Everything you eat post op should be protein dense because your food intake is limited, baby food is never protein dense.
Thanks, the weekend was warm enough to enjoy. Pre-op, I read the nutrition labels of baby food, bought a half dozen low sugar ones, stored them with other post-op stash, and ended up not needing them. No regrets, though. I am a planner, organizer, and worrier, so any and all stash gave me comfort all bases were covered.
When I was planning for pureed food, I bought a few squeeze packs of stage 2 baby food. Most of the packages had way too much sugar, but I did find a few that were okay by the numbers. I tried one and swore that I wasn't hungry enough to try any more. If you decide to try them, make sure that they are protein dense and have only a few grams of sugar, and that is hard to find.
