Have an odd question..

Please do not see me as crazy....but sometimes over the past few days I have caught myself with the thought that during surgery nothing was really done..5 incisions were made..but that was it..
It is a delusion.. like rewiring your brain to think you cannot overeat as the size of the stomach is small now compared to what it has been for years...thus if you change your eating...and maintain it.. over time we lose weight..etc...
Just wondered if anyone has ever contemplated thag..even for a second..
You mean almost like a placebo effect? Like they are doing an experiment on WLS placebo? :P
Never thought of it, but now I will! Lol. It's an interesting thought, but highly unlikely. You sound like a smart and interesting person bringing that up. Makes you wonder.

it would be very hard to do this in a surgery suite full of people. There are at least 4 other people in the room with most surgeries. How would the surgeon hid it? Everybody knows the process. It would only take 5 minutes to do a surgery if only incisions were made and no other instruments were passed to the surgeon.
np, it really isn't possible. Have been a surgical nurse before retirement.
It happens, and I had that thought as well. Aside from the incisions and a sore throat for a few days, I didn't have any issues. I could drink pretty well, but never tried to go off my eating plan at all. In fact, I stretched each phase out, just to be safe. I actually thought that maybe it was a placebo surgery.
Then about 8 weeks in, I ate a little deli meat. Chewed the heck out of it, but it got stuck. I felt like I was going to vomit for about an an hour. Running back and forth to the bathroom. Finally had the foamies, and the meat came up. It was the tiniest thing. Shockingly small.
On that day I knew for SURE I had been operated on.
