Don't eat solid food this weeekend. You don't want anything in your bowels going into surgery. You're GI tract is going to be totally frozen for a few days with the anasthesia and you definitely don't want the extra gas! This is critical to your post op comfort.

Thanks for the advice. My surgeon didn't put me on a liquid diet until the day before but I found a resource for a typical pre-op liquid diet and have been following it just to be ready.

I took Magnesium citrate the day before at 9am. My surgery was scheduled at 8:30am and I still had diarrhea 15 minutes before surgery. I am 4 days post op and I just passed gas this morning for the first time since surgery.

Are you really a cow doctor? A cow doctor with a pilot's license? In case you are, you might like reading about my first post-WLS hospital experience drinking a powdered whey protein and water drink. With her nose wrinkled, the nurse anxiously waited for a negative reaction to the first sip. I don't think she was expecting to hear, "it tastes like how calf replacement smells" and "this is my new life so I better get used to it." Re blender recommendations; I made a bunch of protein smoothies the first couple of years using a Nutribullet 700 watt which worked well. Another recommendation is Unjury brand whey protein isolate powder found at www.unjury.com. All the Best on Tuesday.

I am! I definitely get the milk replacer comparison. I haven't tried any of the powders yet, just premier shakes so I'm looking forward now to trying it! (Or I'll just snag some replacer from the barn... lol!) sounds like unjury would be a good place to start, instead. As to my pilot's license- long ago lapsed. I grew up in an aviation family though and still love it. Thanks for the blender recommendation. I'll check it out. 2 days to go! :)

you got this, and you got many people here to help you. Just follow what you were told to do. If you have any problems, contact the doctor first. THERE IS NO STUPID QUESTIONS!!! Make sure you have at least 1 or 2 people that do know what is going on with you, sometimes talking to a "person in person" is better medicine then anything else. Best of luck to you!! I will see you on the losers bench in 6 weeks, and 2 day!
