I took the "Walk sip Walk sip" rule to heart and was able to return to work within the first week. I did have pain just to the side of my belly button, where according to the surgeon they "tacked" a stitch between the "Y" and my abdominal wall to prevent it from twisting. He said only a few patients ever feel it, and that it (the pain) would go away in a few weeks. Once I understood what caused it I was fine. I was also sore where the larger incision was located, near my ribs. But generally it was a breeze.

I'm out about five months and I've never vomited. I have felt uncomfortable from eating too quickly or too much, but nothing serious. On day five I ate too much tuna salad and wanted to hide under a blanket for an hour or two, but it was my first day back at work and so I dug back in and felt fine within an hour.
