Good morning menu folks! It's a holiday Monday here and in spite of the chance to sleep in, I'm wide awake and ready to go. For those of you with a holiday, what are your plans for the extra day?

QOTD: I'm a lifelong reader and always on the search for new books and series to read. What is the last book that you read? Was it good? Did it meet your expectations?

I'm currently reading the latest in the Royal Spyness mystery series by Rhys Bowen. It is a cozy mystery about an English royal in the late 30's who gets involved in mysteries and murders. They are cute and lots of fun to read.

I'm also in the process of reading a book about painting with acrylics--Lee Hammond's Big Book of Acrylic Painting. I usually have a fiction and a nonfiction book going for variety.

Accountability: We ordered Chinese for dinner last night and I had chicken with broccoli. It didn't settle all that well, so I might throw it out today rather than trying it again. I suspect that the sauce may have had some sugar in it.

Menu:

Breakfast: hard boiled egg, 2 oz ham

Snack: Cappuccino protein shake

Lunch: TJ's chicken sausage

Snack: 2 oz turkey breast

Dinner: BBQ chicken, cauliflower

Exercise: long walk

I'm nearly 10 years out and I still can't handle Chinese take out foods.

I live with veracious readers. My wife will hand me a book she knows I will like. I do want to stock up for a cruise so I'll be interested in hearing the responses.

I made kind of a stock thing today. Onions, red bell peppers, carrots sauted and then cauliflower "rice" added. Today I added some fake meat granules but it will be good to add meat to for a couple of days. Kinda Chinese I guess. I've been eating roast beef, yogurt, and a latte.

I also ate the best peach today. Yogurt time was happy time.

I always worked this holiday. I'm glad I don't have to work it today. Take care those who do.

I was thinking the same thing Cynthia. I never used it but have researched it.

Boca granules in a bag. I'm sure it's TVP based. It is easy.

Good Morning!

QOTD: I just started Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica. I can't comment on if it's good or not yet. I'm also listening to Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. It took me a bit to get into, but now that I am I'm really enjoying it. I just finished All the Wonderful and Ugly Things by Bryn Greenwood on Audible and that one was fantastic but disturbing too. It was hard to rate because I was so conflicted. I also just finished The Forgetting Time by Sharon Guskin. I loved the first 3/4 of the book and the last 1/4 fell totally flat and I was disappointed. I'm also half way through the 2nd Outlander book but having a really hard time committing to continuing the series. I love them, but there are so many books to read and they are so long!

Good morning... Today is our last day in DC tomorrow morning bright and early we head back to Vermont... I am ready to go home but wishing our daughter was coming with us... Today we have an appointment to tour the capital buildings so that should be fun. But other than that I think we have not decided what we are doing yet.

QOTD: I have been a book worm my whole life. Currently my two favorite authors and I have been reading there series when time allows they are Mariah Stewart and Mary Campsi. However, right now I am in the middle of a biography by Rory Feek. I started following his and his wife's career years ago and when she was diagnosed with cancer a couple years ago I started to read his blog. Such a heartbreaking but heartwarming story. I love the fact that he is so honest about his life and admits to his mistakes....

Food for the day:

Breakfast will be protein forward but other than that everything is kind of up in the air....

Have a great day friends..

Happy Labor Day to those in the US. It is supposed to be warm and sunny here today after a dreary Sunday so we are meeting friends at the beach. Good thing it will be a lazy day as sleeping last night was difficult. DH was up every hour which woke me up.

17 months post-op (maintenance) - 65 or less work days to retirement.

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese, and slice of Canadian bacon

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: leftover scallops and veggies

Good minds think alike. I'm on a J A Jance kick lately too. Her books move fast and grab my attention. I read to relax and hate books where I have to think too much.

Karen, I had read a few of her books a while ago but picked them back up after you posted that you enjoyed her books!
