Question about portions and the Honeymoon period
The medicine cup at 5 1/2 weeks out doesn't make sense to me. I was having 2oz four times per day I believe. I never had the mashed potatoes and carby things but I had Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. I weighted my food, I didn't put it in a cup. I was much farther along before I added veggies. I really basically ate protein like tuna, egg, cottage cheese, Greek yogurt during the soft food stage and I gradually went to more dense meat.

Hmm. My surgeon specifically said to eat once, "maybe" twice, and "I'd be surprised if you were hungry" for a third time in a day. Given that philosophy, I'm really confused on how on earth I'd get enough protein. It just seems...odd...to me.
Now, that being said! I eat up to 2 ounces at midday (it's measured, I've never actually finished the entire amount), and when I get home I'll have one or two bites maybe and that's all I want. I'm not able to eat very much at all. It's hardly worth measuring. I'm trying to include some form of animal protein so I can get away from the carbs, but honestly most my protein is fluids and goes right through.
I'm not hungry per se, I just...I want to do this right. I want to be healthy. I don't want to stretch Qbic, of course, but I am also aware that I need to relearn how to eat and digest real food at some point, too.
I realize every Dr. Is different and has different plans but if I ate only when I was hungry back prior to 8 or9 months post op I would never have eaten at all. I had no hunger whatsoever. Now on the other hand is a different story. It just doesn't seem to add up to me.

I'm only 11 months out but that really sounds crazy to me. I hope some of the vets can respond.

My RD said, that I may need to do protein supplements for 6 months to a year. She suggested sipping on a protein drink "all morning and day if necessary to get my protein in. That way I wouldn't be stressed about only eating 1 or 2 oz at a meal and eating 3-4 small meals per day. She said 1 30g protein drnk + 2oz protein X 3 would get me to the ball. I aim for 60-65g of protein daily (my goal, not hers).
