Bloomington would be up for me. I live near Alton,Illinois right across the river from St Louis. I didn't know you were an Illinois person. I don't feel so alone now!

this last month is the first time I've had corn since my surgery over two years ago. I've been getting a few ears the last couple of Saturdays at the farmer's market. It is so fantastic - I wish I had never started! Although the season will be over soon - the stuff at the store isn't nearly as good. Maybe I should quit going to the farmer's market so I won't be tempted!!

Over the years I have heeded the call of fresh corn. I have not regretted it. When it's really good it doesn't need anything. I squeeze lime on it.

I think 2+ years out and eating something seasonally special is a good thing.

I'm actually not as carb sensitive as some people on these boards are, so that helps, too..

Yum, celery soup!! I wish I had some right now! My mom would make that often, as far back as I can remember. It was a favorite in my family. Enjoy!!

made it today! I love to make it when they have celery at the farmer's market (I put celeriac in it, too). The stuff they have at the farmer's market is really strong and makes a fantastic celery soup. It's way better than using that wimpy-tasting celery they have at the grocery store (when I make it with that, I put celery salt in there instead of regular salt, just to kick up the flavor a bit...)

Happy Saturday! BIL and SIL are visiting from Portland OR and we are going to DS restaurant tonight. Beach today and maybe tomorrow (we enjoy it while we can).

QOTD: Hmmm - Having my bath towel wrap around me without gaps (by a lot). Definitely the stairs (69 in the office without getting out of breath). Not worrying if standing on a chair to reach something might break the chair.

17 months post-op (maintenance), 67 or less workdays to retirement.

B: eggbeaters and cottage cheese

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: ? - protein forward regardless

S: protein bar

I love the countdown to retirement. Hubby loves being retired even though money is tight at times. We are managing though and doing activities and volunteer things we both enjoy.

I've been thinking lately that I'll probably retire next summer. But there's a part of me that isn't sure if I'll even make it beyond this coming semester. Plus I'll be stuck with an evening shift in the spring semester, which is going interfere with my yoga schedule.. :-) (priorities....)
