feeling like food or drink is stuck and will not go down.
Like peach said, I'd consider a stricture. I've had two and this sounds just like how mine started. I see that you have an appointment scheduled, but if you are feeling worse and not able to keep anything down at all, don't hesitate to seek immediate medical attention.
Good luck and let us know how you are doing.
Edited to add...meerkat gave an excellent explanation of what a stricture is and what causes them.

Hi, maeburke. I just saw your comment on my thread and was going to answer over there, but then I saw this thread.
It sounds exactly like what happened to me, that "need to burp" bubble feeling. Immediately after swallowing anything, even the tiniest bit, I'd get a cramping feeling right under my sternum (where my pouch is) that would radiate to both sides and leave me writhing and panting in pain. Hot tea, crystal light, sugar free popsicles--didn't matter. Finally I called my surgeon and was told to go to the ER.
In the ER my blood pressure and pulse were up and my EKG was irregular, all from the pain. I was admitted and put on fluids, NPO until they could do the endoscopy. I had a stricture that was dilated, and I was sent home that afternoon.
I'm told that "there's lots of reasons for food to get stuck, but when water won't go down it's a problem." (Thanks Grim!) If you're only having issues with food, even soft/liquid foods (watch out for GAS, too--gas pain for me is higher up, but it's the same burpy/bubbly feeling) then go back to clear liquids for a couple days to settle it down again and try some Gas-X strips. If water and clear liquids won't go down, that's a problem a doctor needs to correct.
thank you for info......Doctor Appointment tomorrow... Mine is not constant. It is relieved by burping and foamies......I don't have the pain you are describing just the uncomfortable bubble. It will happen once or twice a day, sometimes even after I drink water... Will post my results tomorrow. Am hoping he will do the endoscopy for mine and hubby's peace of mind.
I had surgery 2 days after you did. I have had the exact same experience a total of 5 times. So I have been examining why this happened. Everytime this happened to me one of two things happened. I ate to fast, or I took to big of bites. Each time I threw up what appeared to be gas bubble, with water and very little food.
My solution is what the doctor and nutritionist suggested, take 30 mins to eat, and cut your bites to the size of a pinto bean or smaller. This is painful and time consuming so it helps make the meal last the 30 mins! Perhaps most important of all is be aware while you are eating don't get distracted.
This seems to be working for me.

results of my 1 month post op surgeon app... I was having trouble with food or liquids feeling stuck... and I was dehydrated ....Surgeon pretty much told me same thinks you guys told me... Eat and drinks slowly...( and he sent me to hospital for IV fluids) ...........I still do it sometimes, but I learning I can only eat about a fourth cup of very soupy food and i'm still having a hard time getting enough water down..But still no regrets!!!!
