Thanks for your post about this. Having read the rebuttal of patch vitamins published by one of the protein shake/vitamin manufacturers, I have wondered if the patches actually work, especially the iron ones. I'm really glad to know that they worked so well for you! Are there more than one brands of bariatric vitamin patches? If so, which brand do you use?

It all has to do with absorption...whether it's a pill or patch it's how you do with it. I seem to be doing fine with the patches. I am on the multi for 18 months, Calcium over a year, and iron just a couple of months. Calcium you can't really rely on blood tests, but I just had a bone scan and my T score went up, so that's a good sign I'm absorbing that as well. The iron patch BTW was the exact same dosage as the pill I had been taking.

There are more than one patch vitamin company, but the one most people use is PatchMD. They always have a 30% discount code just use:ObesityHelp.

Good morning!

Last night we went to some friends' housewarming party and had a blast playing a game on the Xbox. I'm NOT a gamer, but this was like a party game that we all played using our cell phones in conjunction with the game on the Xbox. On the main TV screen, they'd ask a trivia question. On your phone, you'd type a FAKE answer. When the time was up, the question came back up on the main screen with everyone's answers AND the correct answer. Then everyone would try to guess the correct answer. You'd get points if people "fell" for your fake answer. Needless to say, things got really ridiculous trying to come up with the funniest (or most inappropriate) answers. Woke up this morning to thunderstorms. We're still behind on rain, so my garden is happy. Checking email and having some sugar free hot chocolate this morning in lieu of my regular coffee.

QotD: During the summer I do a lot of yard work and gardening, and that keeps me entertained well enough. There's so much more to do outside of the house. When it starts getting colder is when I want to dust off all of my "indoor" projects. I love scrapbooking, drawing, painting, writing. I have two projects to tackle soon though: my desk is a terrible heaping mess that I want to sort through, including my filing cabinet. Second, we found a really old busted up spice cabinet at a thrift store and I'd like to restore it. It has a really cool vintage-looking chart of spices and herbs on the inside of the door, so I think I might make THAT the front of it, and switch the hinges. The shelves and backing are all busted, so it will pretty much be starting from scratch besides the front cover.

today's eats:

breakfast: Greek L&F, sugar free hot chocolate

Lunch: Friends sent us home with some of the smoked pulled pork last night, so we'll have that today.

Dinner: I found a recipe for a low-carb bacon cheeseburger casserole I'm going to try.

Snack: might have some Halo Top after dinner, while watching Game of Thrones

Sure!

the calories are a bit high, I think, but it will be ok with small portions. I'm subbing ground turkey for the ground beef.

  • That Xbox game is a high tech appropriation of an old-school classic, the Dictionary Game. Everyone gets paper and a pen, and the person who's It looks through the dictionary and selects a word that they think the other players are unlikely to know. Then everyone else makes up and writes out a plausible-sounding definition for that word. These are passed to the one who's It, who then reads through all of the pretend definitions, as well as dictionary definition (which they have copied onto the same size paper as all the players are using). Then everyone has to guess which definition is the real one. It may sound dry and boring, but it isn't - it is actually a hilarious game!
