I worked right up to the day of surgery and only took 2 weeks off after surgery although I was approved for 4 to 6 weeks. I was very lucky that my surgery went off without a hitch. I was in the hospital for 2 nights. Good luck with your surgery. Cathy

I had a few major surgeries before my WLS so I had a pretty good idea how I would respond. I worked up to the day before, my RNY was on a Wednesday AM, I was back in my very sedentary office job the following Monday afternoon.
Walking walking walking (where walking= shuffling at first) will generally help you recover more quickly. To heal your body needs fluids and protein, make sure you provide it with what it needs to heal!

I had surgery on a Monday so I had 2 days off before. I needed every bit of 2 weeks before going back to work. About the middle of week 2, I thought there was no way I was going to be able to go back after the 2 weeks because of lapro incision location pain. Then I went from significant pain to very little in a few days.
