Instant Regret

I felt exactly the same way you're feeling seven months & 120 lbs. ago so it does get better and I think you too will come around to the "I'm so happy I made this decision to change my life for the better" side once you see the amazing results both physically & emotionally very soon.
Good luck! You've got this!

Hi,
I am a revision from sleeve to RNY. Post surgery, I had immediate regrets. I am now starting my 6th week post op and it gets better every day. Like yourself I avoided RNY because I did not like the idea of malabsorption and rerouting stuff. Also, as a revision I plateaued on weight loss after 2 weeks and sat at the same weight for more nearly three weeks post surgery thinking to myself why did I do this to lose a few pounds.?
It does get better and over time once you heal up, you will feel more like your old self with just less food capacity.!!

I'm positive that WILL happen. Be careful though not to waste the tool you have been given in your depression. The malabsorbtion mostly goes away after a year or so. Use It! Eat your 2 ounces of dense protein first, then your veggies! Lose what you need to lose and gain good eating habits. This will pass and in a few months you will FEEL sooooooo much better! This is what keeps me going. My surgery is tomorrow. Like you, I opted for the rny because I never want to have the revision to rny later.

I hear you. Right after my RNY surgery I asked the nurse to wheel me over to the psych ward because I was convinced I needed mental help for having done something so drastic to my body. She thought I was joking and laughed, but I was serious.
I grieved for my old stomach too; I felt like I had done something awful to a body part that wasn't at fault, it was my brain's fault I couldn't control my eating.
Plus, I had a lot of pain, and couldn't take my full dosage of pain meds because they made my blood pressure sky rocket. It wasn't a fun time, but I got through.
Now I'm over 106 Lbs lighter, in only 6 months. I'm off all meds except my allergy pills. I've gone from a size 4-5 X top to a size large top, and a size 24-26 pants to a size 14.
I can ride my bike for over 30 km without feeling I will die. I can walk for hours without getting winded or feeling like my body is in pain,
Now I believe this surgery is the best thing I've ever done for myself.
Hang in; it will get better. So much better.

This is exactly how I felt. Right after the surgery I wa**** with this instant bout of depression and felt like I did something horrible to myself and I will surely reap the consequences for my actions. It was weird I didn't feel so horrible the day before. Hopefully when i start to experience these great benefits then ill feel better about it also.
