3 nights and 4 days after surgery!?
How in the world am I still laying in this hospital bed. Sure there have been some minor scares/ set backs in here, but this is just not looking normal at this point. I think maybe my surgeon is just being too thorough ??
It started off by them thinking I had an infection, due to a fever (which I actually had the morning of surgery too...) so i had all of these tests done to rule out infection/ pneumonia and they all came back perfectly fine!! However, later that night I vomited blood which made my Dr. go back to square one with my diet. Nothing by mouth, and gradually adding in liquids to see how I tolerate it. Which I have been tolerating well, for two days now. Silly little me thought that going through all of this might maybe and somehow get me on that list of people checking out today. My blood levels were low betrayed me. They were low, and so last night i received a blood transfusion and am awaiting my doctor's word upon seeing the results .
Man. I wanna go home so badly. Like sooooo badly.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this ?? I feel like it's all sooverkill, but I don't know maybe that's just the restless and impatient spirit in me talking ...
I'm sorry you've had complications, but it sounds like you are in good spirits. Your doctor is doing the right thing and making sure you are safe before you are discharged. Nowadays, it is hard to justify every day of your hospital stay to insurance companies, so it is highly likely there is a good medical reason to keep you there a bit longer. They are going to want to monitor your blood counts closely to be sure they are stabilized. I hope you have a quick/smooth recovery from here.
I'm sorry that you are having complications. Take it easy and walk as much as possible if you can..

you appear to possibly have a slow leak somewhere in your surgical site, inside.
I would be talking to my surgeon about ruling out a blood leak, and repairing it, asap.
I am sorry to hear that you've had complications !
I sounds to me like you are where you should be.
I can not fault your surgeon for being cautious.
Clinically something has been off.
I applaud him for keeping you admitted and making sure you are stable. Sounds to me like they should investigate if you do have a slow leak.
In a world where hospitals are quick to throw you out, sit back and let them take care of you!
Take care and get better!
Thinking of you during this difficult time!

Have you been admitted since Aug 1st or for 3 nights?
I was in for 3 nights with zero complications.

Howdy,
I was in for two nights but that was because I was an out of town patient. When I was ready to leave the hospital, I had a bowel movement or something of the sort and the whole toilet bowl was filled with bright red blood. Obviously I freaked out and called a nurse who called my surgeon. She said that it was probably from the blood thinners, not a surgical leak and discharged me after checking my labs again. She warned me that I might have a couple more of these bowel movements. So I stayed in a local hotel and after hours and hours of seeing the same thing and lots of blood, we headed back to emergency room. My surgeon and emergency room doc ran more labs. My labs, temp were all normal. So for days traveling back from TX to GA, I had blood in my stools. They pulled me off the blood thinners and everything normalized within a week but it was very scary.
That being said, they really need to cover all the bases. Better safe than sorry. Let them do whatever they need to in order to be sure you are ready to come home.

It sounds like you're in great hands. Try to relax and let them care for you. It's so much better to have a surgeon who's careful than someone who will just boot you out and hope everything will be OK.
You'll be home soon enough; they won't keep you forever.
