PROTEIN DRINKS
most people don't need them once they are a few months out....if not sooner. Some people still drink them for convenience, or because they can't handle solid food early in the morning, or because they just like them. I still drink them because we found out early on that I malabsorb protein (I might have even before WLS, too - we didn't do a baseline). But it makes it easy to get up in the range I need to be at if I have one for my morning snack. But for most people - no.
Unjury makes a chicken soup-flavored one that a lot of people like (not everyone - but lots of us)
I use them only in coffee for my creamer just to get in more protein, but I never drink them anymore cause I get my protein from dense meat, that's what me me satisfied the longest amount of time.

Hello!
I am 7 months out & have a Costco Premiere Protein shake every morning at 7 am.
i use it to take my vitamins & it gives the the lift that I need to get going.
I usually have breakfast around 9 am.
I really try to get my protein in 120 gm daily.
However at times I will end my day with a shake if I haven't achieved the protein required.
I find as a widow with three busy young men in football, it is hard to get it all in and still meet my 3 litres of water requirement daily.
The Costco shakes are 160 cal & 30 gms protein. As mentioned before, great bang for your buck!

I am 8 1/2 months out from surgery. I like to have a protein shake sometimes when its hot out and i don't feel like eating and I need to bump up my protein. I also enjoy one in the mornings too.

HI,
I don't like protein shakes at all. However, I have been drinking them every morning since surgery. Today was my first attempt to replace the protein shake with a real meal. I had egg beaters and chicken mixed in.
I mix my protein mix half and half with unflavored whey protein isolate from Isopure so its not so sweet.

You definitely don't have to drink the protein shakes later on if you don't want to.
I'm 6 months post op and enjoy putting a quarter cup of premier protein in my decaf coffee in the mornings. I can't face eating when I first get up, and two cups of decaf gives me 12 grams of protein, which is a decent start, I think. Then later i have my real breakfast , usually Greek yogurt or an egg.
If I'm having a tight restriction day and can't get my protein in with food, I'll supplement with a chocolate premier protein. I'll also have a chocolate shake on days where my chocolate craving gets crazy. Also, if I'm busy and know I won't get to eat a proper meal, I'll carry a protein shake or bar with me. I prefer the shakes to the bars because the bars are higher in calories and carbs, but the bars are great for long bike rides.
