PROTEIN DRINKS
I have noticed on the menu post that a lot of people still drink protein drinks. Is this something that I will need to do for the rest of my life to or do you do it just supplement the protein your not getting.

I don't think you need to do it forever. I am almost 4 years out and almost never have a protein shake. I did, however, have one for breakfast every single day for probably 1.5 years after surgery. My pouch was smaller then, and my pouch didn't love food first thing in the morning.
Now, protein shakes don't keep me full. Dense protein does. For example for breakfast this week I have been having hard boiled eggs mixed with cottage cheese and Everything But the Bagel spice, or deli turkey and American cheese, or rotisserie chicken. But I definitely loved the bang for the buck of a shake in the first year or two - 150 calories and 20 g of protein is good for the body! I loved Chike high protein iced coffee shake the most.
Thanks I was just wondering. I have to drink 2 to 3 for the first 3 to 6 months, but they are so sweet and I really just don't like the taste of them. I drink them because I know I have to and was hoping it wasn't for ever.

If the issue is taste, try different brands of protein shakes. I like the Syntrax Nectar brand because they come in more than 15 flavors, plus unflavored. The variety really helps. Amazon also sells a sampler package so that you can try the different flavors before buying a large package.

I am 6 weeks out and couldn't stand the taste of the protein shake. Somebody here suggested to add ice. I practically fill up half the blender with ice and pour the protein drink (chocolate premier protein) on top of it. The blender grinds the ice and 1) the shake is no longer as sweet because it's diluted 2) it comes out like frapuccino (which I love). AND, it also satisfies my liquid intake for half the day.

I've been doing this first thing every morning with chocolate Body Fortress for years. :)
I make up a full blender with water, SF Davinci syrup, & fruit to change up the flavors then divide it out into 3 water bottles. I keep them in the fridge & alternate the protein with my regular water bottles so I can just grab & go throughout the day. I'm drinking 58oz protein shake + approx 120oz clear water daily.
I'm four months out and I'm learning to run, starting to swim and biking to work. I was feeling very fatigued and my Bariatric team suggested that I up my protein intake by adding protein drinks. I was using them before but now I'm using them or a protein bar almost every day. Protein is vital while you're healing and I guess it's important to not only keep muscle mass but to build new muscle. When you're trying to keep your total calories low, the protein powders and ready to drink (RTD) shakes can be efficient and often cost less than the equivalent portion of "real food".
I love to eat sashmi for a protein source, but I can only afford to do that once a week. Another go to is a bag of pre-cooked large shrimp which I thaw out in 4 oz (by weight) portions for quick meals (I add 1/2 a tsp of ****tail sauce).
When using protein powders and or drinks it's important to make sure that the protein is from whey isolate - this is the protein our bodies can easily absorb. I mix protein powders into other protein rich foods like Greek yogurt, milk, or cottage cheese to keep an additional boost.
Good luck!
