Hi guys...Nance here. We never had a problem with lights..but we did with those bug zapper things. Our neighbors had one right outside our bedroom window (we lived in a twin) and all night we would listen to the sound of bugs being fired.
I'm going away this weekend... My first trip in a real car in a long time...I can fit! Anyway the thought of not being around my scale really scares me. Also the lack of control around food and when I eat.
B protein shake
L hummus
S protein shake
D an egg and zucchini
Enjoy your day! Nancy
Don't let it scare you, Nance! Think of it this way, plenty of people who are not (and have never been) super morbidly obese travel every single day and make it through. Also, there are protein options EVERYWHERE. Unless it's a pizzeria without salads or appetizers, I have never struggled to find protein. The struggle may be to CHOOSE the protein when something else sounds better. But you have got this - pack up a little cooler for the drive with some cheese sticks, jerky, hard boiled eggs, etc. And any restaurants you go to will have things you can eat. Have fun!
Dcgirl! Thanks for your advice. Packing a cooler for the trip is genius! I'm thinking of asking my friend if we can stop at a grocery store when we get there so I can stock up on some of my favorite foods... Like hummus yogurt and more cheese sticks etc. We'll probably eat lunch out everyday. Your post has reassured me on that count. I may read it over and over when I need inspiration!!! Thanks again Nance
I had to start traveling again three weeks after RNY - I was going to business dinners and eating less than 2 oz at a time! I was worried I wouldn't have options or people would notice how little I ate. Guess what? I always had options and no one cared or noticed what I was eating. One night we went to an Asian restaurant and I got a salmon appetizer. One day we were at a burger place and I got a turkey burger and ate some of the meat with a fork and knife, no bun and no fries. No one noticed a thing - just like I didn't care or notice what anyone else ordered or ate. I realized I was in this for me and I am the only one who will take care of me. I'm sure your friend will take you to the store, and eating out gives you tons of options... you can find something anywhere. A few ideas:
A chain restaurant like TGI Fridays, Chilis, etc: how about grilled wings or meatballs or a burger no bun. Just ask for no bun, no fries - all places will accommodate your request, and some will even offer veggies on the side.
A fast food restaurant like Wendy's, get chili, other ones, get a grilled chicken sandwich no bun (but be sure the meat is moist enough so you don't get foamies!)
A good choice is always a deli/Panera type of place - get a sandwich and eat the insides or get a salad with protein and cheese on top
A seafood restaurant - almost anything grilled or broiled on the menu would be great!
Don't be nervous in the least - and if you are still doing protein shakes, I used to also put individual scoops in a Ziplock bag and bring a shaker cup. I had a shake for breakfast for probably 1.5 years.
Have fun!
Thanks again for all your help. I'm sure I'll refer to both of your posts lots of times. Sometimes for info most times for the boost in confidence... You've convinced me that I can do this. Sometimes I get a little insecure.... Only three months out and I really want to do my best with this. Thanks for showing me it'll be OK! Nancy
