So I had my GYN appt today. I never went in 2016, so last time I'd been was 2015, when I was only 4 months out from surgery. I love my GYN, shes very personable. She walked in with a huge smile, 'saying look at you, you look amazing'. I was confused, cause frankly, why would she remember me? I'm sure she has plenty of patients, and she'd not seen me in 2 years. Im sure she reviewed my chart before coming in- but I found the commenting on my looks odd- cause I feel like she had no point of reference. Then she was palpating my stomach and said wow, wow, flat stomach and everything. Then I knew she was BS'ing LOL, maybe it caves in when on my back- but flat it is not.

Weirdenss aside- it felt good. NSV's: My blood pressure was perfect 120/60 and my pulse was 50! The exam itself was easier too- they always used to have such a hard time getting my cervix in view. We discussed some concerns & made a plan, scheduled tests etc. For the first time I felt like I was heard, and not written off to, 'if you Diet and exercise- that would go away'.

I think they do remember us even when they see so many people. I think she was thinking in the back of her head on who she could help by seeing you on your visit.

My PCP hugs me and tells me I am doing a great job, That was even before WLS. Some doctors are better than other.

My husband does think it is weird my doctor hugs me. I say to him well it's not my gyno so shut up.

This a great NSV. Also when you go for your mammo it is so much easier now.

I got referred for my first mammo. I doubt the machine can make them much flatter :-)

You might be surprised at who they remember. I know my gyn knows me, but then again she was my obstetrician during an IVF pregnancy and because I have dermoids cysts and Fibroid tumors. The thing that I find funny is that her medical assistant remembers me and remembers my kiddo. I commented to the receptionist and she said that the assistant has a weird/freaky ability to remember everyone. I hadn't been in the office for a year and a half the last time I went, and was surprised when the girl remembered me, though I recognizer her as well.

Congratulations, Peach! It's so much easier going to appointments when you don't have to dread the scale. I remember the 2 week fast I'd do before any/every doctor appt. Ugh...

You have the resting heart rate of a trained athlete. It's all of that running :) I'm happy for you!

I haven't been to the gyno in over 4 years now... (in my defense I was told 5 years after my hysto, but I really need to get on that). I'll be lucky in that when I do go it will be a new doc.

My current PCP has known me since prior to surgery, and he's commented that I'm doing fantastic and remembers me, even though I've only seen him once or twice, he sees me with the kids, and we're a small town, and my husband sees him, so when I walk in everyone knows who I am.

Sorry it made you feel uncomfortable. But I bet you do have a flat tummy when you are laying down, and I bet it's much flatter than you think even when you are standing up ;)
