Hi. I saw a chart someone had posted with a list of meds we could take.

Does anyone have it, and could they please share?

Thanks.

I haven't seen that chart. However, the following medicines are approved by my surgeon for after RnY:

Tylenol, Excedrin Tension Headache, Excedrin PM, Excedrin Sinus Headache, Midol Complete, Celebrex, Relafen, Mobic.

These are in addition to some medications approved by your PCP, like Levoxyl, birth control, estrogen. Obviously this is not a complete list of all possible medications you may be prescribed.

Thank you

After looking most of these up, I've discovered they are NSAIDS.

The five over the counter meds I listed are not NSAIDs. The last three prescription medications are NSAIDs. I don't know why my surgeon included the last three on his approved list, but I will find out.

I hope you got this confused with the "DO NOT TAKE" list. Excedrin, Midol, Celebrex, Relafen, and Mobic are all NSAIDs, and should be avoided like the plague by ALL WLSers, regardless of surgery.

Tylenol is OK.

No, Grim, I copied it correctly. This is the list of approved medicines my surgeon gave to us.

None of the over-the-counter medications I mentioned are NSAIDs. Not all Excedrins contain aspirin, though some do. The Excedrin formulas listed above are aspirin-free. For example, Excedrin PM contains acetaminophen and diphenhydramine citrate. Excedrin for Tension Headache contains acetaminophen and caffeine. Excedrin Sinus Headache contains acetaminophen and phenylephrine. Midol Complete contains acetominophen, caffeine, and pyrilamine maleate.

I do see that the prescription medicines I listed, Celebrex, Relafen, and Mobic, are categorized as NSAIDs. I am not sure why these prescription medicines are listed as having been approved by my doc providing they are prescribed by your PCP. I do not use this category of drugs and did not ask for his explanation. However, I will ask for an explanation next time I see him.

I've never seen a list of approved meds. There are a million meds, and almost all are ok in some form.

As you noted, NSAIDs are not ok. Many extended release variations of some meds aren't dangerous, but they may not work well. Regular release versions are acceptable.

Most often, docs will tell us to open gel caps before taking.
