Welcome back Daisy!!! So happy you had a swell trip--we loved the piccys of y'all!

Thank you Librarian and Teena for your creativity with the QOTD and settin' up the daily menu threads in Daisy's absence!

Today I have my pulmonologist appointment. He's a new one, since my old one took a new job in Georgia. I'm sure he will order pulmonary function tests, but hopefully, he will be on board with the surgery and will sign-off on me "going under."

QOTD: I second JB's Salonpas patch or gel suggestions. Lidocaine is the shiznits. I found out about it cuz I had this Emla cream stuff I used to put on before they would access my port during chemo or fills at the PS. It works like a miracle. Prior to that I used Flexall 454 cuz it was odorless. It does have aspirin in it though. Hope your shoulder feels better Daisy!

Accountability: Yesterday's menu was um, just such a delusion. LOL. I barely followed having lunch with Emiepie's egg salad. I just had zero hunger and ended up not eating anything until noon. Then I ended up having peanut butter on a half of a low carb tortilla, nuked until crispy, and had a little Greek yogurt and blueberries. Dinner was just super-simple l.o. grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. So although it wasn't what I'd planned, it was suitably boring and on track with 803 cals; 69g prot; 40g fat; 26g net carbs.

Menu: 801 cals; 71g prot; 44g fat; 20g net carbs

B: 2 over-med fried eggs in olive oil with 2 slices Hillshire Farms blk forest ham, sauteed super greens

L: Honestly, it will probably be a premier protein drink cuz we leave around that time. It might be green soup though (green chile turkey, collard greens, mushrooms, onion, garlic, BTB, pickled pepper vinegar, water cooked into a quick soup).

D: l.o. grilled chicken, roasted cauliflower, avo/tomatoes

BTS: 4 pecan halves and a chocolate calcium chew...thought I'd broken myself of snacking, sigh. But this may be here a while because I use the pecans or almonds to make up the numbers that I didn't hit in my meals. And it is surprisingly like having a wee cheat!

Have a great day everyone! Still looks like it might rain here.

Good morning :)

Today is the last day of the conference and we have our presentation this morning. I will be glad when that is over and I can relax and enjoy the city for the rest of our trip :)

QOTD: I used to live on ibuprofen. I had a lower back injury and when it flared up I would get a prescription for a stronger NSAID. So far I have been making do with extra strength Tylenol. It works for minor headaches but doesn't touch the back pain.

Breakfast - protein shake

Snack - chicken

Snack - protein bar

Late lunch - tbd restaurant

Snack - peanut butter and carrots

Dinner - tbd

All water and vits.

Welcome back Daisy!! Today is a busy day and I have a meeting soon, so I will power through this post. Does anyone have a spouse/partner that is away a lot for work? I don't understand how people do it. I mean I keep busy, work full time, long commute, gym, we have 3 dogs and a cat and currently my son is living at home so I'm definitely not lonely or bored... I'm just not cut out for this and it's hard on him too. How do you handle it? I've never felt so attached to someone before, it's weird.

QOTD - I miss Advil. I love the steam room or the hot tub at the gym if I am sore or achy. I let the heat melt me or jets pound whatever is bothering me. Otherwise I use a heating pad. Rarely do I bother w/Tylenol since it doesn't seem to do anything.

Accountability - ate on plan yesterday

8 mo post op

b-SB venti triple shot latte w/splenda

l-meatballs w/a little beef gravy

d-scrambled eggs

v/l - on track

e- gym - 30 min elliptical and 30 min weight lifting

Have a great day everyone!!

Morning! Is it Monday? No...uhg...Tuesday. Alright...I suppose I am ready for it. Sorry I have missed several days. Here is a catch up report.

Monday turned into a mad house for me. My weekend was incredible. Super busy, amazing fun, late nights, laughter, sooooo much wonderful connection with my dearest friends who live around the country...I could go on. Monday I woke up late at 8:45. I am usually out the door around 8. Got dressed for work, got to my car, glanced at my phone and realized that I had a foot doctor appointment at 9...I live an hour away. So I just started driving and figured I would beg forgiveness and get rescheduled. By the time I got to the foot doctor it was 10:15 and my oldest son texted me that he had a hernia and where was I and why didn't I answer my phone and he need me to go with him to the doctor at 11:30 about this hernia. I panic! I got to see the foot doctor...thankfully. No More BOOT! Healed up and cleared for walking...slow return to working out as tolerated. YAY! On to the hernia kid right? I race to get him, take him to the doctor...turns out no hernia. He was fine. He had eaten tooooo many peanuts and had a bad poo session and pulled and muscle. He then Googled and WebMD-ed himself into being SURE he had a hernia. Well... no hernia, he is fine...meanwhile I am about to have a heart attack worrying. In the end I got to spend the day with him so that was fun. About the time we finished with his doc visits and blood work and all...I look at my phone...I had a cardiologist appointment I had also forgotten at 2:30. Guess it was good I had already called out of work, eh? So...heart doc here I come with my son along for the ride. Heart doctor is good with my current heart meds, no changes, but the lower leg swelling issues I have (which I wear compression stockings for and take Lasix) is not so good. The Lasix hasn't made any difference which he says means it isn't fluid retention it is blood flow issues. He reviewed a vein study I had in my legs 14 months ago and decided that the vein insufficiency seems to be degenerating. New vein study scheduled for Friday. Wait for it...wait for it...guess what the treatment is for this??? Surgery! Arrrrgggggg. I am OVER IT! I want no more surgery...but let's wait and see. Each day has enough worry of it's own so I will leave that for Friday's schedule of crap to worry about.

Accountability: I have been 100% on plan...when I have had a plan. I traveled with protein forward snacks including salami slices, cheeses, Greek yogurts, and (For the first time trying) Mr Cheese O's (Squeeeee! These are SOOOO yummy! Now I know why you all love them so much). I am 125.2 this morning so even with all the madness I am maintaining well. I am definitely habitually making careful choices when we eat out or am in a gas station making a selection in the middle of nowhere. The protein first is really habit now and I am working it. Planning is waaayyyy better but it is comforting to know my improvisational skills are on point.

Menu: B: Greek yogurt; L: Freezer treat (Beef barley soup); D: Grilled chicken and hummus; S: Banana; ES: Oatmeal

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Wow, you have so much going on. Glad you got to "kick the boot" and that your son did not have a hernia and hoping all the best on the upcoming vein study-you've been through sooooo much.
