I drink about 64-70 ounces of water or crystal lite or decaf coffee. I already feel like I am swimming in liquids!! LOL

Hi Babsinga,

I'm one week ahead of you. I also had horrible nausea and dry heaves! It was around 3 weeks.

I think for me it was a combination of slight dehydration and trying to eat my first oatmeal. I will not be eating any type of oatmeal again for at least a few months if at all! I was doing great until I tried the quick quaker oats. I prepared it so it was very thin.

Just a thought. You may be sensitive to the oatmeal like I am.

HI and thanks! However,it wasnt the oatmeal because I had not eaten it yet. I had not eaten anything or had anything to drink. As for dehydration, today I am but I did manage to drink 60 ounces yesterday of water.

Sounds like food poisoning. Much more common than you might think... in fact 99 percent of what we call "stomach flu" is in fact some kind of food-borne illness.

As for oatmeal, I don't care how much f*cking protein it has. Stay away from it. Take it from someone who has successfully kept 180 pounds off for 6 years now... I don't care what your doctor or nut says.

Hi Audrey,

Our stats are similar. I started at 340 and got down to 165 over 15 years and maintained there for 5 years with the sleeve . The important thing was I was able to keep 2/3 off over 15 years. My regain in the last few years has been multi factoral and sloooow.

I developed several autoimmune disorders, hiatal hernia, chronic GERD and motility issues due to Sjogrens syndrome limiting my exercise and generally eating food that didn't give me reflux, thus the revision from sleeve to RNY. I started regaining right about menopause (52 now) and during the time I was anemic and immobile.

I did eat oatmeal during most of my on going weight loss since 2008. It had benefits such as lowering my cholesterol, fiber but I realize for most, they would not be able to eat that at all if they are carb sensitive. Honestly I am an eggs and turkey bacon gal, but right now its egg beaters and Emmiepies egg salad with cottage cheese as a snack.

My best friend has Sjogrens and a few other auto-immune related issues. I feel for you... whenever they put her back on meds, she gains weight like crazy.... then loses it when she goes off but then of course the symptoms come back :(

Hi Audrey,

I have been lucky. Was on low dose steroids a few years ago for lupus/sjogrens (allegedly I have both) and it was horrible. Took them for two months. I take Plaquenil which is rough on the stomach but doesn't cause weight gain like steroids. My rheumatologist pulled me off the Plaquenil for a month because they are not supposed to be crushed and I was doing that post op after my surgeon checked with pharmacist who claimed I could. It was killing my new stomach . Hopefully not taking Plaquenil wont pull me out of remission where I have been for a couple years. I pulled myself off of Cymbalta which my doctor prescribed for lower back pain and autoimmune depression which is common. I am not really depressed, more anxious overall. So far, so good. I feel great other than yesterday. :)

She found an awesome combo recently of steroids and methyltrexate... we took a walk today and she was moving faster than I was! Hoping it lasts for a bit...

Maybe the turkey was a bit off? I got sick once after eating salmon which I think was slightly off, although it tasted and smelled fine and was purchased frozen. I thought I'd die and haven't touched salmon again since, lol.

When I was as early out as you are, I could only manage my protein shakes, and very bland foods like plain Greek Yogurt or cottage cheese. I think it took me 4 or 5 months before I could switch from herbal to to decaf because the decaf always made my stomach upset. Maybe stick with water and water with sugar free flavorings for a bit.
