What's on your Sunday menu RNYers?
QOTD I try to live each day like it's my last one. Missed posting yesterday as we ended up going to a state park in southern Illinois Friday night and then to a cowboy shoot Saturday. Oops I forgot to take a picture of my outfit for you all--next time. Lily and I got our 3.5 miles in early in the rain and I walked 3/4 a mile to church too. We'll also walk a mile after dinner tonight. Post op 4 years 11 months and weight at 118 today. Accountability was good with no extra bites as I was busy. Busy Karen=no snacking. Here's the food plan for maintenance today B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 2 better with Cheddar brats D 31/2 oz stuffed salmon 1/2 c Italian cut green beans S P3 Pak. Have a great day everyone and make some smart choices that move you one step closer to your goal!

Hi,
After a really rough start for the day, working on drinking fluids and meeting protein needs after feeling so sick and nauseous with dry heaves , foamies and multiple bathroom trips ( this was before drinking or eating anything at all today).
So I tried protein oatmeal that I had made for lunch today. I made 12 servings out of the 1 cup of oats they suggest on the package and split up the carbs, nutritionals and protein and came up with something satisfying and high protein. In case anyone interested, recipe was for 12 portions of 2 oz each:
1 cup of instant oats Quaker
8 oz of almond milk trader joes vanilla 40 calories
Water to thin it out to preferred thickness.
2 scoops of protein powder 50 grams protein half was plain whey protein isolate and the other half Quest Vanilla
vanilla from my cupboard
tb of cinnamon
This came out to 12 serving of 2 ounces.
90 calories per 4 ounce portion 9 grams protein 7 carbs
This is the same amount in the Dannon light and fit which comes from sugar carbs rather than fiber which in my opinion is not as filling.
So QOTD: I spent many years as a practicing Buddhist and we have a saying:
"Suffer what there is to suffer and enjoy what there is to enjoy"
This is so true and simple and most people would just be a lot happier if they knew that everyone suffers and it is part of life. There is little we can do but minimize suffering when we can and know that something good is around the corner. Worrying serves little or no purpose. I try to live my life to its fullest knowing that I am the only person who can change my life condition.
So today I will not mee****er or protein goals but here goes:
Protein oatmeal 90 calories 9 grams protein
Mixed ground chicken and turkey pulled out of the chili I made but removed the sauce. Put a sprinkle of parmesan and ate plain canned green beans. ( a whopping 5 or 6 of them which was mostly water)
Maybe some egg beaters if I can tolerate
Protein low fat creamy soup chicken
some plain greek yogurt
at 30 ounces of water so far but will push to reach at least 50 with some hot decaf tea and crystal lite

Hi guys,
Late as usual! Doing fine today. On the 12th I will hit the 2-month point and I'm kind of excited to see what the scale says! It's another beautiful day in California!
Yesterday I had a Starbucks green tea, iced, with 1 Splenda. My first Starbucks visit since surgery! Can I tell you how fabulous the coffee there smelled?! I cannot wait to be cleared for coffee!
I forgot to include the QOTD, so am editing to do so. Though I don't find myself ever really saying this, I do think of it with fair frequency, and try to adhere:
"Imperfect ourselves, we must be tender towards others, and be slow to impute motive". -M. Ghandi
I don't always live up to this. But I do value it, and I do try.
First: Cinnamon Buns protein drink
B: 1.5 oz. tuna/cottage cheese w lemon juice
L: 1.5 oz. Ham/cheddar
D: Possibly a deviled egg. I will make it, but I have yet to eat eggs and am not sure how it will go.
S: Cappucino protein drink
Water Water Water! Walking, cleaning house.
Three days post op. Getting fluids down is getting easier: 35 ounces so far. Decaf brewed iced tea, protein shake, water.
Did some baking for the family--had no interest in sampling, took a couple of longer walks including a nursery for some new plants to Bonzai.
Meds are on track--stopped prescription pain, switching to acetaminophen.
Mental health seems good--still more sleepy than I'd prefer to be. Stomach is still a bit crampy and sore.
Thanks to all of you for sharing--I don't feel so alone.
Congrats!

My eating was a little off today. I didn't eat before the opera and the food there was a carb fest. I ended up with nuts and wine. I drink a couple of times a year. It made Madame Butterfly much better. I love going to the opera.
Also had yogurt, roast beef, mustard, and some cheese.
There is enough time is my life quote and Bible verse is Psalm 46:10- "Be still and know that I am God"
