Could I be hungery??

I am a little over a week out from surgery. I am keeping nausea even with the nausea medication. I have noticed if I'm drinking something heavy like the protein drinks or milk I don't have as much nausea. I can start eating soft food until 08-10-2017. It's hard to tell if I'm hungry or not just wondering if that s why I feel better for a little bit when I drink something heavy.

It could be but instead of burying yourself heavy fluids ask doc for anti-nausea meds. I've seen others here have needed them.

I am taking them every four hours like clock work. The doctor just seems to think it's normal I guess he just said to make sure I'm taking them. They just don't seem to be helping.

I didn't find the anti nausea meds helped either. I did find sucking on a peppermint tic ta****asionally did help. Also make sure you are getting fluids in!

How many ounces of fluids are you drinking a Day? If you are dehydrated you feel very very nauseous.

I'm getting about 35oz. I talk to the doctor and they said that was ok for now. I am trying to get as much in as I can. Even if I don't feel good drinking the fluids it's much better than being admitted to have to get IV fluids.

I realize you are only 11days out but 35oz is very low and that absolutely could be why you feel nauseated.

I know I struggled in the beginning, really the first year getting my fluids in. And literally had to schedule them. If you don't like plain water try adding Crystal light Mio drops, splash of diet cranberry ... if hot is better try tea. Tge sooner you get your fluids up the better you will feel. You can count all fluids too including protein drinks.

I know that fluid is the number one thing. I have timed it in the beginning where I was getting all of the fluids I was told to get in. But the past few days it's just so hard I do make sure that I do drink the protein drinks. I will check my notebook in the morning to see what my fluid in take should be right now (Just don't remember what it should be). I will try the timer again tomorrow and see how many I can get in. The problem I'm having is the nausea medication puts me to sleep. For example I didn't get up til 10:30 today didn't take any nausea medication because I had to.run some errands came home tried to drink something and got sick, took nausea medication fell asleep at 2 and woke up at 7. So I lost 5 hours to get fluids in.

I really didn't think I would be dehydrated taking on 35oz. I think I will call the doctor and talk to them again about my fluid intake. Thanks for the advice.

There is no limit, you can always drink more if you can tolerate it.

Only 35 ounces is ertainly dehydration territory. You need twice that much. I start to feel like crap if I get less than 120 ounces.
