What's on your Saturday menu RNYers?
Morning Weekenders!
Greetings from cloudy/rainy Quebec City. I guess I didn't need to be in such a rush to find a swim suit..... so it goes.
We're off on a boat trip to Grosse Ile. It was a processing island, similar to Ellis island. Going to be a bit of a downer, but should be interesting.
Qotd: does your way of eating stress some people out?
Most people don't seem phased at all, but my in laws seem to struggle. For example, the tour we are going on has a boxed lunch option, which I opted out of, because it's a sandwich, granola bar and apple... it's caused them no end of stress, not knowing what I will eat, and me being left out ...I know this because there have been multiple phone conversations, and the first thing I was told when we arrived was that there was plenty of veggies and cheese, and fruit in the fridge. And can I eat crackers? No. Oh. New worries. I know it's tricky for them because my mother in law doesn't eat much protein, and her diet is very carb heavy. I'm finding it challenging to get them to relax.
accountBility: good, but too many sunflower seeds were consumed on the drive.
Menu:
B: boiled egg and some sliced meat
L: I think will be chicken salad with sliced cucumbers
S: veggies and hummus
S2: cherries, they look amazing
D: tbd on when we get back. But sounds like a pork chop and some veggies.
have a good one gang!

Good morning! It is going to be cloudy/rainy here on Cape Cod too. A good day for errands.
QOTD: No one worries about what I'll eat other than me. Maybe because I'm typically the planner/caretaker?
B: eggbeaters and cottage cheese
L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese
D: some kind of fish probably (going out)
S: nut thins and hummus (I'm kind of obsessed with it lately - I may have to ban it soon if it gets out of control)

I totally appreciate your ban comment. That happens to me as well... I get obsessed with something and need to reevaluate it's healthiness in my diet.
My grandson gets things put on 'time outs' all the time for behavior. Maybe I need that - this food is going on time out. LOL
So the cottage cheese and eggbeaters? Is that an omelette?

Exactly! I had to ban chocolate dusted almonds. They started out as a good snack, then I found myself grabbing an increasing number of handfuls daily. Nut Thins and hummus feel like they may be headed that way too...
Eggbeaters and cottage cheese: 1/4 C eggbeaters, 1/4-1/2 C cottage cheese - microwave for about 2 minutes on high (stir periodically). The eggbeaters basically scramble and the cottage cheese gets all melty. I find it very filling and satisfying in the morning. I've been eating it since I was first allowed eggs. Sometimes I'll mix in other stuff, but the 2 ingredients are my mainstay (easy to make and to pack for work - I put it in a custard cup with a lid so I can micro it at work).

Yep the only way I am allowed the chocolate dusted almonds is to get them in the pre-portioned 100 calorie packs, otherwise...

Can I just say that it is soooo comforting to see that you also eat imperfectly sometimes?
