Getting nervous now
Surgery is Monday. Today marks day 1 of 2 for full liquid diet. Sunday will be clear liquid only and then Monday is D day. I'm nervous because I feel like I have not lost enough weight, I was 296 at last weigh in before pre-op diet, today I'm sitting at 288-290. Depends on if my water weight goes or just collects in my legs (I take hctz for this) I've walked a little bit, but it's hard to go outside right now where I live. Our entire state is under a air quality warning due to the fires in BC. I can't even stay outside for long before the smoke just makes it not possible.
I know the point of the pre-op is to shrink the liver, and not so much the weight loss, but it worries me that I will not have shrunk my liver enough. I was told by my pre-op nurse that if he goes in and sees not enough shrinkage he can just say nope, not going to happen. sigh I guess this is just my nerves trying to give in to my fears.
I think they tell you that to help you understand how important the pre-op diet is. If you have stuck to it you should be fine.

There's a TV program here called My 600 Pound Life. Probably can catch it somewhere online. Watch an episode of that. You'll feel better!
Be sure not to eat anything solid this weekend. You absolutely do not want food anywhere in your bowels going into surgery.
Congrats and good luck!

I am dealing with the smoke from the wildfires in BC too. Its terrible. My throat hurts, my eyes burn.
Good luck on your surgery. I still have those days where I can't believe I did it. You will look back and realize how amazing this whole journey is!!

Hi Miranda! (also my daughter's name-love it!)
I just want to wish you luck and congratulate you on this huge endeavor. I am 10 days post-op and agree with everyone's comments.
One thing that I will add...I thought the liquid foods, need for protein and water were going to be hard. None of this is hard as I am following my Dr.'s orders exactly. It's actually easy. I don't have to think about food prep. I stocked my kitchen with foods I can eat, powdered protein, and drinks. I eat 1/4- 1/2c 5X a day and sip water or another allowed drink. That's it. Easy.
Good luck and speedy recovery :-)
