What's on your menu today (Photo Friday) RNYers?
Late in posting today - I had to come into work early to do a software upgrade on our credit card terminal. It was supposed to take 20 minutes, but it was more like two hours! UGH!
QOTD: I'm a coffee shop freak. I hang out in them, and I often work in them as well (taking my work laptop with me). Love them. I usually go for local, but there's an Einsteins/Caribou combo less than five minutes from my office that I go to a lot when I'm working remotely. The coffee is great, they have free refills, and I can get to my office lickety-split if I'm needed for anything.
going to a friend's place tonight for dinner - she wants to try making that grilled Mexican corn that you rub with mayo and then roll in grated cheese and spices. Not exactly bariatric friendly, but I guess a one time, one cob thing is OK. Hopefully she'll have some good protein item there as well. I'd better take something just in case!
2 years 2 months out
B: homemade Greek yogurt, fresh blueberries and raspberries
S: Miralax/protein mocha latte
L: 1 C cottage cheese, peach, grape tomatoes
D: Mexican corn, ??
probably another yogurt or protein shake/bar if I need the protein (and can afford the calories)
so the first time I ever even laid eyes on mayo slathered onto corn on the cob was from the little street cart in Chicago... I used to walk by him everyday on my way home from the Train and wonder WTH he was putting on that corn!
I finally stopped one day and bought one...
It was so delicious, I think I was a daily customer of his for months after that (and in Chicago is where my weight issues really elevated to a new level!)...
Enjoy! Corn just doesn't seem the same to me anymore... it's like all the flavor got sucked out of it with the invention of Monsanto and their GMO crap!

you're right - the corn of my youth (LOL!) seemed to taste a lot better. I suppose the tasteless stuff transports better. Hopefully my friend picked hers up at a farmers' market - that's usually better, but it's still never as flavorful as I remember as a kid :-(
and that Mexican corn is great - I've had it a handful of times (pre-surgery). Looking forward to it!
Good morning menu'ers. Sleepy this morning because I stayed up way too late last night binge watching Mr. Robot on Prime. It's good, but weird.
The weather is cooling a bit, and only (!) getting up to 95 degrees. That's 10 degrees less then yesterday, so I will take it. I'm headed to Seattle in a couple of hours, and it will be a few degrees cooler there, so, yay! Still smokey, though. This is likely to be a very bad forest fire season.
QOTD: I am a Starbucks' girl (in the NW, Starbuck's is the law), and I also love the local coffee joints. Portland is chock full of great, independent coffee shops that serve fabulous coffee. Also lots of fantastic tea places.
I am a boring coffee drinker. I like my coffee strong and black. I do not generally not put syrups, sweeteners, milk or anything else in my drug of choice. Occasionally I will order a non-fat flat white, but it is rare.
Pictures below are of me and my friend Jana. It was taken at a rooftop concert last weekend. The other one is a selfie I took on a visit to a beautiful Scottish garden a couple of weeks ago.
l love seeing everyone's pictures.
