What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?
So, just FWIW...
I had my thyroid give out on me a few years back. I did the Levothyroxine for a year and we couldn't get my numbers to balance out. After doing some research and talking with the pharmacist, I asked to be put on the actual Synthroid brand of Levothyroxine.
It seems that with the generic, specifically Levo... , it is made in many different labs, and not all of them have the same exact requirements when they make it, and pharmacy's receive it from different places all of the time. So specifically with Levo, it's VERY important that you get the exact same dosage with each pill.
Once on the Synthroid, my numbers became balanced, and I haven't had any issues in years... even all through my weight loss period.
Just food for thought if you do find that getting your balance doesn't work for you.

Thank you Pammieanne! I'm so clueless about this thyroid mess! I will keep that in mind over the next couple of months. He wants to retest in 3-6 months. I have the same thing with my Cozaar for HBP. I have to have the brand name cuz the generic makes my blood pressure go up about 30 points. :( Glad to hear your thryoid stabilized and you've been so successful losing weight while on it! Was your weight loss rate satisfactory to you along the way or did you consider yourself a slow loser--dealing with the low thyroid?
You can look in my signature line for my first year of weight loss broken down month by month.
I think I did damn fine for a 52yo woman, with thyroid issues!
But I stayed the course, and was pretty strict with myself for those first 6-8 months and I know that really helped a lot! I'm still pretty good, don't think I threw it all out the window after those first few months... it just gets harder to be near perfect the further out you go. Lose it quick! Don't let anyone talk you out of that!

Morning menu peeps!
I'm having a DEXA scan today!!!! I have been fretting over this whole maintenance thing for far too long, and this morning I called a place here in town, and they had an opening at 11am TODAY!!!! I'm so excited!
QOTD: Measuring my food is probably the biggest thing that has become second nature to me. I just grab the scale and do it barely without thinking... I also now portion out several meals and freeze them. I almost always have a variety of frozen 'surprise' treats in both my home freezer and the one at work. It really helps me to make better choices when I really don't want to. I admit to not logging my food very often... it never has worked for me, and it makes me feel too restricted. I DO log it for periods of time to see how I'm doing, and especially when I need a reality check... but if I try to do it everyday, I get pissed off and feel trapped.
Accountability: I did well yesterday, except I did have a spoonful of almond butter last night and a few BLTs of the egg salad I made last night - the first time I've tried it with cottage cheese... and can I just say it was SO YUMMY! I can't wait to eat it for breakfast and lunch! (I brought TWO containers of it! LOL)
Weight this morning 138.0 (no potty movement, so I'm not surprised)... over a year out.
B: Egg salad made with cottage cheese! (I used 4 eggs, 1/2C of cottage cheese, 4 SF pickles chopped up and EBB spice, that made me 4 meals)
L: See above, it was so good last night, I'm eating it twice today!
S: I brought 2 ounces of pepperoni to microwave in the oven if I need it
D: Chicken leg and broccoli and probably 2T of cottage cheese
S: Latte
