What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?
Morning Menu Buddies! This week has been crazy for me. Work has been busy. I took off last Friday so that bumped several things into this week. I am taking tomorrow off so that has bumped things back. Basically today is three days in one. Wheee!
This weekend I am heading out of town to an event where I will be up late and eating out of a hotel room. I am not fully recovered from being up late last weekend and eating out of a hotel. It will be challenging to stay on plan and get enough protein without too many carbs. Wish me luck! I have a plan, a fridge in the room, and packed snacks to take so I should be ok.
Accountability: Doing well. Weight is steady at 125. I am happy with that. Eating has been feeling controlled. I forget to log so I can't say if I am "on plan" but I don't feel that compulsive eating thing even at night lately. I think I have been too busy to focus on food. Maybe that is my best bet...stay so damn busy I forget to eat.
QOTD: Habits are hard to notice. Once it is a habit we forget that it was ever hard to remember to do. I always weigh...morning and night. I always pack my lunch for work. I think those are the two things that seemed hard to remember when I first started out that are really second nature now. MFP logging is tougher, I forget pretty often. Vitamins I am great about during the work week as I place them on my desk so I will see them and take them. Weekend I often forget to take them at all if I am not careful. Drinking water...I suck at that. Goals!
Menu: B: Oatmeal with honeydew melon; L: Frozen beef mushroom soup left overs; D: On the road... S: I packed Greek yogurts and a banana.
Have a great weekend everyone!!
~Elizabeth

Here at my new job, they give points out for things like logging your calories in MFP. They use Virgin Pulse to track it so we all log into it daily and it auto links to MFP. It also links to my Samsung Health app and counts my steps (anything over 7000 gives you points) and there is a scale and BP station here in the office that we can use as often as we like but it also will comp you for using it twice a week. It's all tracked through the Virgin Pulse application which each person can set up to connect to their devices (they give you a free fitbit if you don't have anything already).
Anyway, at the end of the quarter if you've tracked steady and gotten your points in, they apply your points in dollars to your healthcare account. If you meet all the targets it cuts your out of pocket healthcare spend to a fraction of what it would otherwise cost you. Pretty cool motivation!

Good morning!
I slept sooooo good last night. I almost feel bright eyed and bushy tailed today... Almost haha. Hopefully the decent sleep will help today be an even better one :)
Accountability: Strayed a little off plan (grrr stupid dark choc pieces!!! at least it was sweetened with xylitol instead of a bunch of other junk) BUT I still stayed below my 600 Cal limit that I've set for myself. Zach surprised me with spicy tuna poke' last night when I got home from work so I didn't have to have more stinking' turkey roll ups. What a nice surprise that was! What were most of you eating at about 8 months out for calorie count? Just curious if I should adjust my intake. I feel like I'm getting enough even though my brain wants me to think otherwise.
QOTD: I think that my vitamin patches have been the easiest change for me. When I was taking multiple vitamins a day it was very difficult for me to remember. I'm so grateful to have the patches! The hardest part for me has been staying on track with logging all my food/water and getting my butt out there to exercise. I've been working on it though! Already down 4 more pounds since I did my 180 turn and started tracking and focusing on the basics again. Wahoo!!!
B: choc pp with decaf espresso
L: leftover poke' or greek light and fit yogurt - depends on how my work schedule pans out
D: loftover poke' or turkey. Maybe a tiny salad too
S: laughing cow cheese wedges.
V: patches
E: going to try to get home early enough to walk dogs with Zach. Fingers crossed!
Have an amazing Thursday, everyone!
Sounds like you are doing quite well reigning in the poor eating. Way to go! I logged every bite in MFP until I got to goal so I went back to check (ironically I was 8 months out almost 3 years ago to the day, in August 2014). I was between 800 and 1000 calories at that point, with daily exercise. My typical menu was:
Chike high protein coffee shake for breakfast (180 calories)
Trader Joe's balsamic chicken and goat cheese or taco spiced ground turkey with mexican cheese or shrimp with pesto or some variation of that for lunch (250ish calories)
Chicken breast with curry or crab and avocado or mediterranean tuna salad or chicken sausage for dinner (300 calories)
Snacks were things like 2 oz of cheese, or a 100 calorie bag of Skinny pop or almonds or pickles or light and fit greek yogurt or deli turkey and cheese roll up
This helped me reach my protein goal every single day, kept me full, and kept my carbs low :)
Thanks, Dcgirl!
MFP is sooo helpful! I can track on the go and adjust portions if I need to when I don't get the chance to eat an entire lunch while I'm working. It makes life so much easier :)
I wish we had a Trader Joe's up here so bad. That balsamic chicken and goat cheese sounds amazing, definitely going to try that the next time I get down to the 48's and can go to one!
