Last meal...

I just ate my last meal. I'm on clear liquids tomorrow and then Wednesday is my surgery. With the last bite it hit me with a ton of bricks how things won't be the same again. I welcome the change and am going to give everything 100% but the unknown is very scary. I have to call the hospital tomorrow between 2-4 to get my surgery time. No turning back now. ?

Good luck! I guess when I was being wheeled out, heavily sedated, the last thing I said to my daughter was "no turning back now". True that but everything works out back to semi normal in a few months time.

Congratulations!

There will be a new normal, before you know it.

Take the time during your first year to be, as our Grim says, a machine! Don't waste it. Those chances to eat things you love will come again, but the longer you keep them at bay, the better for your chances of succeeding in the long run!

The time will come again when you can taste those foods you will miss the most during your liquid stage.

Hang on! The clear liquids are hard, but luckily you only have two days before surgery! You'll be on the Loser's bench before you know it!

You will do fine, and the key is to find your way to a happy healthy life so that by the time your tool is no longer as effective as it will be in the first year or two, you'll have such great eating and exercise habits (where exercise is an active FUN lifestyle) you would never WANT to go back. You want to learn to live a life where the "no going back" thoughts become a mantra that brings relief and joy rather than neuralgia and longing.

What did you have? My "last meal" was last night! (I'm on my two week liquid diet pre op starting today) My daughter made me cinnamon French toast for dinner! Oh, yummmmm. I ate three pieces. I was extremely full afterwards...I'll remember that forever...so delicious; plus my daughter made it for me...
