Newby here, soon to have surgery

My dietitian told me if I could blend it down and make it liquid y, she didn't mind me eating the recommended serving. However that just doesn't seem like a smart thing to do if I'm trying to get into keytosis? (spelling) I admit I thought about buying some pumpkin puree, and then adding nutmeg and cinnamon to my cashew milk with my protein powder. But then I seen the carbs amount... *sigh* Where I live, there is so little to buy for this liquid diet, and when I went online to order things.. The food would not get to me until my diet was almost done. (sadly shipping/handling really adds to the costs)

I definitely was not prepared for this part of my journey, but at least I am for the rest of it. I will just have to white knuckle it as you say and buckle down. Just never knew this head hunger was such a horrid monster.

The cravings really will go away, or at least get easier to ignore. You've got this.

Hi Miranda! Welcome--newbie here too--and congrats on the coming surgery! You can dooooo eeeeet! :) Getting into ketosis sucks, but if you keep it low-low carb, it can happen potentially in as few as 3 or 4 days! Then you will hopefully get some hunger relief.

I plan to make huge crock pots full of bone broth (from leftover chickie carcasses) then freeze in 2 cup portions. That way I'll be able to take a serving out and stir in some unflavored protein powder. Also, the reduced sodium Better Than Bouillon works really well with unflavored protein powder. I use the IsoPure Unflavored, but have also used the whey protein isolate from the bulk isle in the store, since it's super low carb and no added sugars.

Hang in there girl!

Thank you for the suggestions, I am literally writing all of these down and making a notebook to keep. I am REALLY tired of sweet right now. I'm just glad that once this is done and I'm back to normal foods again, I can have pickles again. I'm a dill pickle hound, and I love how the only thing I have to worry about them is sodium lol. So these will probably be my go to thing for when I have the munchies. Here is to hoping for some great results in the next few weeks for me. 7 days to go and counting! :)

I remember drinking a lot of Lipton instant soup mix. Not sure if that is allowed on your plan or if you can find that where you are. It was lower in calories and it didn't be strained. I remember having as many soups and protein shakes as I wanted which helped me avoid cheating (my surgeon didn't tell us to limit anything except solids). I lost 15 pounds during my 2 wk liquid diet prior to surgery. It was during that period that I had to stop going to the grocery store. I literally had my husband do all the grocery shopping for about a year. You could try flavoring chicken broth with different flavors like ginger or whatever else there is (I am far from a gourmet chef!)

That sounds like a great idea, I'll write these down and try them out. Right now I'm already tired of sweet stuff. I have been craving sour/salty something fierce, and then also crunchy. So I've white knuckled through it.. but good grief it's hard lol. So far in just 1 week i have gone from 297 to 288. So I must be doing something right ;)
